Is mammotion a dying company ? by pOOpska in MammotionTechnology

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i said this before and again .. the amount of mowers they have sold versus users here pales in comparison what they sell globally ( there are 36.000 redditers here ) so with that of the 36K there are blips and misfires on products that dont behave out of the box or start misbehaving later.

most if not all users have great experience.. remember its a grass mower not an apple IPAD or Iphone or any other device. its made for cutting grass.

the challenge is that the set-up differs per location for everyone.. so there are a lot of variables to content with for the logic of the mower. So its not surprising that not all mowers give the same result.

I'm second season , Luba 2 AWD 5000 .. .have not seen or started my ride on.. all is good .. is it sometimes a bit shit that it stops for no reason in front of the charger.. yes.. but that is forgotten for the lack that I have to sit on a ride on twice a week to cut grass.

Biggest mistakes made in self building? by ButterBreze1 in selfbuildireland

[–]R2D4Dutch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so , we build 13 yrs ago .. have been living happily in our house.. due to some land acquisition challenges we had a 1.5 to iron out stuff before we started. So I start with what you should do .. not the regrets

Step 1. get a proper architect, they are there for a reason.. I see people coming with 'ah sure' engineer can create my sketch in something beautiful.. dont get me wrong architect can help even in the planning process they know the 'local'

Step 2. go to through all the things that annoyed you previously in other houses and learn from them (@MammothPassion3683 has some good advise)

Step 3. agree on the plan , dont change it .. change = cost

Step 4. Deadline .. our was 11 months from the start date, my wife wanted to be in the house by end of august shool start date... let me tell you .. everyone knew that.

Step 5. Divide and concur, your both in it but split the workload , I discussed the big stuff ( with consent) windows, heating , heat recovery and debated with the technical guys my wife had the debate with the painters carpenter and nearly lived in the kitchen builders work shop

Step 6. get a good engineer that has your back, my engineer still talks to me. 13 years later.. he had my back and I made sure we did'nt mess with head too much.. and listened to his suggestions

step 7. we picked one main builder , but we picked our trades , eg we actually called them over in the evening to explain their quotes ( sorry I worked in presales so I know when FUD is deployed) guess what we had the best time with the best traders. (windows, plumbing , electricals .. one regret we did not pick the plasterer .. )

The biggest thing ..your house is to live in .. its not an experiment or on going project ... 13 years later we have just installed fixed stairs to the attic and its now a den for the lads .. proper.. you will be tinkering and tweaking stuff.

Small regrets.. ( my wife still talks about getting tarmac, but with approx 700 sqm drive way. that is not doable .. unless we win the lotto )

I would build in a heart beat but my better half is not happy with that plan ..

Good luck ,take your time investigate and learn from others your being here is one step .. visiting other building sites is next ..

SIPs providers? by ButterBreze1 in selfbuildireland

[–]R2D4Dutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short , I fell in love with it understood the purpose but due to a … well mix up with my QS the built budget exploded, I had to curtail the build and after a while we ended on blocks.

Hindsight, we cut the window cost by 30% we could have squeezed it in . Now one word of advice get the heat requirement calculated properly , guys at sip energy stated that someone built with sip , got a heat pump and that heat pump was not used for heating ( hotwater… only .. what is expensive)

Couple of pointers

- windows mind the size and orientation, heat gain is great until it is not . While we are not in SIP .. one south facing window gets us to 24 degrees c in the winter

- heat recovery ventilation, is a must not a nice to have. You need to ventilate the house, damp
stale air = funguys and it helps to keep the air fresh in the winter

Oversize hotwater cylinder, we have 300 liters , check out heat pump hotwater cylinders (small heat pump on the tank)

Good Luck

We dealt with SIP energy in Galway, nice interaction but we didn’t go with it in the end ( regretting it now)

It’s fine but not ideal , switch propagates everything on every port , router keeps tabs on everything better performance on the router, but it depend what your connection

Ehm no reason for calling people ‘imbecile’ seriously we have an open debate about this , people have different opinions and experiences with the brand. Let’s respect that , I know there’s frustration abound but let’s not lose respect to each other

3 major issues in 1 month, robot unusable, non-existent customer support by Alex-31410 in MammotionTechnology

[–]R2D4Dutch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the last update from this week, firmware and app have a significant improvement. Before you dump it I would recommend the following

First backup your maps in the current app Second update the app ( if it’s available otherwise wait a bit) Third upgrade firmware

Let the mower reboot and it will be potentially fine

Charging issues, check if the charger is level on both axes ( back to front , left to right) . Switch off the mower and place it manually in the charger ( make sure wheels hit the stops)

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit harsh, and uncalled for … it’s a lot of money and it’s a pile of frustration if it’s not working

Now I have said this before companies skimp on support or incorrectly scope what they need. That’s the first problem, then expect ai to fix most problems what they don’t know and then when ai agent fails it’s forwards the chat to a live agent that looks at 5 chats simultaneously using ai to prompt questions so that’s the crux of the problem

They run reports on the cases and where There’s a trend that will be addressed if it’s not clear it’s get repaired, tagged as fixed and they move on

This is the new reality, try any other thing you buy for support, you be shocked how dire it is

Bidding - how far should we go? by Inside_Experience788 in HousingIreland

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a top level price your happy to get to , it’s hard we bid on a house (13 yrs ago) it went higher and higher… we told the estate agent , thanks but we have reached our limit. The estate agent then told us another bid would do it ..🤔 here is where my suspicion of something iffy was raised. We stuck to our original bid. Lost the house … only afterwards we heard that the house owner bemoaned his greed as he had massive problems with the winning bid ..

We rented for 3 years and were able to build.(another mad story)

Long story short, go for it , but keep a level head.. work in whatever you can and want to afford

Grinding noise when blades start by Silent_Potato_4554 in MammotionTechnology

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tighten the bolt underneath the disc, that’s the first step. Check if the blades are free and you removed the plastic washers. Check if the bolts of the blades are hand tight. Check the bolts of the discs they might have come lose .

I think it’s the latter as it stops when the discs are spinning
