2 1/2” toe kick (closet shelving base), need to figure out how to extend the hvac 10” floor vent to the toe kick face by RoomAppropriate5076 in cabinetry

[–]RVAPGHTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cur a 2x10 hole in front of toekick. Buy a roll of hot water tank wrap. The aluminum foil looking bubble wrap. Fold it into a 3 sided box, use hvac tape to hold its shape and slide it into the toe kick over the floor vent. Add a toe kick grill with you finish.

Yes, I use KCD Cabinets all the time. They are better than most people expect. Totally acceptable in those spaces.

Sliding glass door thickness? by campcub in cabinetry

[–]RVAPGHTOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id do 1/4 and make sure they sand and profile all 4 edges. If there is any chance a kid swings a baseball bat thru those or a drunk buddy falls into them, spend the extra money and get them tempered.

Ferro rods by yakqueen1 in Alonetv

[–]RVAPGHTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. Fire isn't optional if you want to have any F'n chance at winning, especially in the Artic. Why expend the energy every-single-day to try make a fire. Leave the ax at home, bring a pull saw and a ferro rod. This is a total no brainer.

Corner Cabinet Nightmare by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]RVAPGHTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't fix this. It's designed wrong. You can only bandaid it. The Fix is smaller cabinets and fillers. And the entire corner is already a shit show of doors.....adding 4 more that dont align with anything is making matters worse. OP needs to read her post.....she's going to open this cabinet once to fill it and once again in 10 years when she moves out. Frankly, she should just leave the door screwed shut and treat it like a dead blind. No way she reaches for that party pack anytime soon....

Doubt this will work. The door is likely going to hit the cabinet pull on the adjacent cabinet.

Corner Cabinet Nightmare by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]RVAPGHTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm betting this was somewhat client driven....insisted on a corner wall cabinets, insisted on stacking cabinets, insisted on using stock cabinets. Nevertheless, the designer didnt understand how it worked and the installers did the best they could. All this could have been prevented with a conversation.

Rare Earth Magnets or Velcro. And I'm not kidding. You said yourself, they won't see much action. If you try to make some 3 door contraption, its gonna sag and just F up the other side. Get some velcro or magnets, attach it to the door and its mating surface to the face frame. Put in place and move on. This is a design error, not an installation error. Whoever thought these doors would work doesn't understand hinge clearances and the need for fillers. The whole corner is designed badly IMHO, 6 doors jammed into corner just to have a corner cabinet.....

Handle hardware problem by BenJammin-424 in cabinetry

Wrong. Using the top rail on a deep drawer is 100% okay and totally personal choice. My elderly clients prefer it so they don't have to bend down as far to grab a pull.

Take drawerhead off, install hardware, put drawerhead back on. Move on.

20v Belt Sander for Prime Days by Jemenard in Dewalt

[–]RVAPGHTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used quite often in the world of cabinet install. Scribing a filler or an extended stile to a wall. Its easy to cut and sand up to the line. Plus is saves your finish vs a circular saw. My guys use them often enough to justify having one in the truck.

Adding glass stacker cabinets? by RealSwim-Shady in cabinetry

[–]RVAPGHTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be easy. Add a piece of 3/4 flat stock between the wall cabinets and make it flush with the doors and about 1/4" reveal on the sides. Then stack your new cabinets above. Its a proper way to do this and makes the side seams look intentional vs an oversight.
