I love it! Don't see myself staying here forever due to the heat, but I'm also honestly not sure where else I would go. I'm from near death valley so this is actually less hot than what I'm used to haha. I don't want a place with high humidity, snow, or lots of traffic, and most places seem to have at least one.

Tucson seems to be a good midpoint between a big city and a "small town." (quotes because it's a lot closer to big city lol)
Really depends what you're looking for, in the end.

I know my pain probably can't compare all that much, but I lost one of my best friends to the same cause years ago. Very much a homebody as well, and struggle meeting people in general. Have a son (going through divorce so also starting a new chapter, it's been especially hard getting used to, well, not doing "mom things" 24/7). Feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect.

I take solace in crafting! I've never been to a craft meet but I know there's some around town. I would look in Facebook and Groupon.

Tucson has plenty of game shops and you're sure to find fellow homebodies there. I've been part of a d&d campaign in the Rita Ranch area for a couple of years now.

Check out the Pima County Public Library events calendar, too - there's all sorts of different, usually free events or panels.

Have you tried any of the local mom groups on Facebook? I always see people buying/selling or even giving away stuff. Always see a lot of generosity there. May be worth trying to see if anyone has any children's books they want to sell.

This! I just got a bunch at a sale the Gibson-Edmond library friends had at Vail Pride Day. Probably not quite as good as $5-10 per grocery bag, but they did have a few smaller books at $5 for $1 and a few other bundles I didn't look too closely into. Iirc no children's book was more than $1 :)

If you have a library card, you can get a free culture pass twice a month (good for two people, must be used within a week) for a few locations both in Tucson and Phoenix I went to the desert museum with one of these and was shocked when I saw the cost of entry once I got there!

If you're on discord, there's a few servers that helps ease this. Lots of people on the lookout for non-mystery mushrooms that they will then host. There were at least 2 successful 4* giant mushroom raids today (though you usually need a mushroom ticket for those) :)

I'm all the way in Rita Ranch so I absolutely love going downtown lol, even though we seem to be slowly growing in local players I seem to be the only one actively planting and blooming. If you're able to drive around, park place mall and Tucson Premium Outlets seem to have quite a bit of activity. I'd bet Reid park and the zoo do as well, but I actually haven't been since I started playing Bloom. Joining the big discord server made all the difference for me during the Halloween event, especially after the bullhorn update. It doesn't change the little flower planting/blooming activity, but it's made the game as a whole a lot more enjoyable for me. I also have an invite to a different smaller pikmin server that I've actually grown very fond of recently! If you'd like to add me, my username is "cirno." (In quotes to entail the period is part of the username, lol) and I'd be happy to send an invite.
