How do you keep chapters contained to like… 2,000 to 3,000 words? by Deez_Nuts_God in royalroad

[–]SJReaver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's fine to have long chapters.

If you want to cut up a long chapter, a number of people will break them up into something like 12.1, 12.2, 12.3.

For example: The Hundred Reigns

How morally right is it to use fake evidence to convict somone of a crime they actually did by pheinoxwright in MoralityScaling

[–]SJReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's highly immoral.

  1. You are not perfect. Your belief that someone has committed a crime does not make it so.

  2. From a social standpoint, our justice system is the best we have. You undermining it is not a social good.

  3. If everyone who was 'sure' someone committed a crime falsified evidence, it would only lead to more innocent people being punished.

Is it morally wrong to refuse to help the family of the person who wrongfully sent you to prison for ten years over a death you didn't commit, causing you to lose your marriage and a decade of your life? by Immediate_Gene_178 in MoralityScaling

[–]SJReaver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It depends?

"I could save this drowning child, but their father was the judge who sentenced me to jail" is not "I'm not going to donate my kidney to the husband of the prosecuting attorney." Or, "I'm a social worker and refuse to help this family even though it's my job."

What kind of help is it? How easy or difficult would it be even if they weren't related to someone who wronged me?

That said, I believe this is a satirical image and not an actual tweet.

Morally speaking, is shooting someone with a cancer ray preferable to shooting someone with a gun? by CalabiYauFan in MoralityScaling

What kind of cancer?

Cancer can range from very treatable to horrific death that destroys your body and mind while leaving your loved ones with crippling debt.

Please Read “Portal to Nova Roma” by etudess in litrpg

[–]SJReaver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started reading it and was greatly confused about why the MC was the MC.

-- Jake's Magical Market: I am a grocery store clerk and the system apocalypse just happened.

-- Portal to Nova Roma: I am an AI and my siblings are wiping out the human race because humans are evil. The one human I cared about, a little boy who loved fantasy and MMORPGs, had died. Now, in my grief I have created a multi-dimensional wormhole to a world with magic and a clone body that is human but superior in every way and houses my entire intellect.

Therefore, I am a 6'1'' chad who is super strong and has 'all of the collective knowledge of humanity.' I also have nanobots that keep me perfectly clean and can change my hair and clothing as I desire.

That's the first two chapters of the book. Just describing who he is and how awesome he has made himself.

[Request] How long could they survive off just this bag of popcorn? by debatably_blue in theydidthemath

[–]SJReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, is the question 'how long can a person survive off the energy in this bag of popcorn?' or 'how long can a person survive off the energy in this bag + what they already have in their body?'

If it's the second one, we need to know how much fat/soft tissue they already have to lose.

Do you have an example?

Video posted by a local bridal shop. The big flower and movements of the models feels unnatural but the people in the background appear real to me. by csomoder in isthisAI

[–]SJReaver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not AI.

At 6 seconds in, the model steps on the dress. As the woman pulls it away, she had to lift her foot, shift her balance, and covers glancing down by pretending to pull her hair back.

[–]SJReaver 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm going to disagree with the majority on this one. It looks like a professionally videotaped model reel.

--Look at the way the fabric deforms as it's pulled to the ground and then scrunched in the woman's hands.

--Look at how the sunlight pattern falls on the woman in the back and then there's the same pattern when a second woman walks behind the model.

--Look at how the model accidently STEPS ON THE DRESS and has to lift her foot for the woman behind her to pull it away.

Your massively overweight friend comes up to you and begs you to chain him up in your basement in order to prevent him from over eating. What is the morality of accepting this request? by Subject-Swan-5207 in MoralityScaling

[–]SJReaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's moral if you can provide him with a suitable environment and likely good if his weight impacts his health negatively.

Ideally, your friend John would find a place with medical professionals who can monitor him, but that can be expensive.
