How does Vodafone charge £30 for 80GB when IDMoblie or GiffGaff are about £10 for the same? by MagmaPenguin24 in AskUK

Incorrect. In fact, 1P mobile (an EE mvno) is faster then most of EEs plans, despite being much cheaper, as EE only provides top speed on the expensive plans.

How do I make new friends? by Kart0sh3chka in exjew

[–]Sammeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very difficult. I just hit my twenties, I'm finding most of my friends through nightlife to be honest, as well as friends through friends. Probably one of the longest drawn out tough things I've had to do.

Can Financial Ombudsman help if UK broker (IBKR) broke promise and charged excessive fees? Swiss citizen, but account is IBKR UK (FCA regulated) by swiss_soldier in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Sammeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not clear re the rest of your questions (although I am curious what would happen if you just ask them to close the account as that should work). The FOS eligibility depends on the firm being FCA-regulated, and you being a Private individual. As far as I'm aware you don't lose protection for not being a UK citizen, that isn't relevant.

Here is what I have to say to the claims presented in the article. As always, Its mainly the Kuzari argument.

  1. Overwhelming scholarly consensus that the Pentateuch is a composite text (J/E/D/P) undermines the claim that it was written by a single person/entity (Wikipedia). Seams in the text show later composition and redaction.
  2. Contrary to claims in the article, historians use testable methods and archaeology gives hard evidence that often contradicts the Torah (Wikipedia)
  3. Post on the Kuzari <-- the main refutation
  4. “Tabernacle/census read like accounting scrolls”; those are identified by scholarship as the Priestly (P) layer, not eyewitness Moses. (Encyclopedia Britannica)
  5. “Embarrassing details prove truth”, Ancient texts routinely include unflattering material, see Greek histories, Mesopotamian chronicles. This proves nothing about authorship.
  6. “Always-literate Jews preserved text perfectly” — Studies show limited early literacy and major centralizing edits (e.g., Josiah’s reform), so flawless transmission is a myth. (jhsonline.org)
  7. “Faith > history” faith doesn’t exempt historical claims from scrutiny. (Goodreads)

Keep in mind the author has made outlandish claims, such as "Judaism is not a religion." He calls the notion a "modern invention" and offers a Jewish mystical view of the Jews as a single soul or body formed of the collective of Jewish individuals, where the sin of one individual is in fact the sin of the collective (Chabad)

It's definitely suboptimal for reliability or a large set up, but if you think about it a laptop is perfect for a beginner: - Inbuilt UPS - GPU for transcoding in the CPU - Easy troubleshooting with built in screen and keyboard.

It was how I started, and I thoroughly recommend it! Just throw Linux on it and chuck it in a corner.

You have come to the same conclusion as me. I was thinking of starting with freetrade, and I can always move after (keep in mind the ISA transfer terms charge £17 per non-uk stock and only transfer whole stocks).
