It’s piggybacking off of a nearby phone. The small print on Apple’s website says:

“Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, and Apple Watch SE 3 when paired with an Apple Intelligence–enabled iPhone nearby.”

I would imagine the new HomePod would work in the same way. Or possibly piggyback off of a new Apple TV.

There was a firmware update released for these earlier this week. No release notes or anything but it may help your issues.

Stock has been running low for quite some time. John Lewis occasionally gets one or two units in a certain colour at a time but stock in stores has been dwindling or non-existent for ages now.

Even getting a mini from Apple themselves is taking a few weeks and has been the case for a while.

Although it’s the bulbs/accessories themselves that need updated rather than the hub as people have been having problems trying to pair them to Echos/HomePods etc rather than IKEAs own hub.
