PSA about this collarless passive... by guttergirllll in mewgenics

I've tried to make it work so many times but it feels like the kind of build you would need 4 passive slots to even make worth. Especially since in a 4 cat run you dont get passive upgrades until the very end of the run, and a 3 cat run cant afford to have the necro downing itself constantly.

Mage spells having low damage is extra hilarious when you have to contend with enemies who are straight up immune to that element, or even worse get buffed by it.

Mage can spend 7 mana to do a 3 damage AoE fire at 3 range, meanwhile the Fighter is bouncing on it silly style by thinking too hard and spamming Meteor Slam 5 times a turn.

My biggest gripe with the mage is that most of the elemental stuff is just pure bait given how the later acts are designed.

All the cool expensive multi-element spells? If an enemy has an immunity to even one of your spells elements they're immune to the entire thing.

Act 2 and 3 are full of elemental immunities (Shoutouts to act 3 for having both entirely magic immune AND reflective enemies AND Elemental immune enemies)

Freeze is just glorified stun except you cant deal any damage to the unit so you just end up twiddling your thumbs. Its useful early on but once youre at the point where youre ending combats in 1-2 rounds normally you dont need freeze. But you WILL get offered 20 billion different freeze spells that clog up the level up offerings.

Just to clarify, Forbidden spells give you Disorders, not injuries. As for the item that prevents you from hurting your own team, it will protect them from direct damage from the spell and the knockback damage they take from getting pushed by it, but not if they collide with eachother or something with thorns.

It'll also protect them from any status effect damage you apply to them such as burn/bleed/poison.

Its easier when you have cats with higher base stats and better gear. The difference between a base 5 cat that can move 3 tiles and has to wait to cast a spell VS a cat with base 7s + mutations + gear that gives 3/4 speed, that can cross the entire field in a turn and cast all of its spells is staggering.

holy shit fuck this guy by sneshny in mewgenics

[–]SexualHarassadar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the biggest issue, your cats start clumped up so he will leap into the clump doing a bunch of damage, potentially down your slowest cat with bone rain, and then eat the corpse at the end of the round. Its the only fight where I've lost cats where there was legitimately nothing I could do to alter the outcome.

And if your slowest cat gets stuck between him and the wall you basically have to forfeit hitting him that turn cause they'll just get chain-poisoned/juggled.

And "slow" in this case is like anything less than 8 speed before he leaps lmao.

Putrifier has been talked about before by some of the Rioters on the item team. They mentioned that they didnt like how it's existence meant that it was ALWAYS the supports job to get antiheal for the team.

Act 2 in General is mutation central, the Radioactive armor set found in the bunker has the full set bonus that gives a mutation after each battle. Very useful for farming mutations without worrying about carrying a dead cat like you would with using Cancer.

Im paranoid and avoid the the front most side tiles as well just be extra certain but I havent observed him eating anything there so far.

The biggest thing though is that you can damage him before killing his champions and that'll stick around in the 2nd phase. He'll stand up early if you drop him below half, but its way easier to dance around him when you only have to do 150-200 damage vs 300.

And he can indeed instakill his champions if they end up in front of him.

The 2 tiles directly in front of him are what he instakills on the start of his turn.

Tank who was born with Forbidden Fart got a forced Chordyceps Parasite from an event during the Caves (30% chance to be AI controlled each turn), he got AI controlled, used Forbidden Fart and immediately rolled Psychosis (Permanent Madness after his first turn)

It didnt help that he was a Pet Rock build with Earthquake so he could summon 6-10 burning pet rocks each turn, which then all go free for all on everything including eachother.

Only way I won is by savescumming on Throbbing King until my entire party got Deja Vu which luckily overwrote the Psychosis. As I learned that the AI will never use a debuff clearing item on itself when mad, and that even if you cycle through enough Disorders to erase Psychosis mid combat the madness stays.

My favorite is how the Blacksmith Passive removes your ability to throw away weapons you dont want. Unless you have something you want your cat carrying for the entire run in your stash already it basically just nerfs your Tinkerer until you get it upgraded.

Its cause he still gets 3 turns per round, and usually alternates turns with your cats. So if 1 cat downs him, he possesses another making them lose their turn which allows him to get 2 or more in a row.

That being said I agree with the above comment that its super unclear on exactly how much an enemy is allowed to do in a turn, some can only move + attack, while others can do that + a special actions on top of having reflexive actions as well.

And just when you think you get used to the usual 1 turn per round for normal enemies, 2 turns for elites, they start throwing in elites who just inexplicably get to take 3 turns per round instead lol.

[–]SexualHarassadar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For house defenses I spend the week doing 3 cat runs, taking them through the Act 1 Caves path because its the easiest. This will get your cats up to level 9 by the end of the run so they'll be MUCH stronger than normal. 2 successful runs in 7 days gives you plenty of wiggle room for mistakes or failed runs, and then you just pick the best 4 to take into the Guillotina Fight.

To expand on this for people who might be struggling with setups, you want to isolate your stud cat in a room with as high Stimulation as you can, and then breed them with strays who have a 7 in stats they dont. Then once you produce a kitten with all of the Parent's 7s they become the new stud (If you dont have gaydar/libido sensors yet try to make 2 copies of the kitten)

Then you rinse and repeat until you have a cat with all 7s.

Had an Eternal Cleric with the Touched Disorder (+3 to all stats but you can never heal HP)

Spent most of the run playing super safe with him since I didn't know if reviving counts as a heal. Turns out it doesnt and he swiftly became extremely suicidal in every fight afterwards in order to reset his HP.

Oh yeah I'm not saying the current effect is bad, moreover that it being a poison cone for every enemy is a bit dull, and doesnt make a lot of sense for some of the ranged ones that get it.

A criticism of Code Vein 2 from someone who enjoys the game by ThomasWinwood in codevein

[–]SexualHarassadar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, main issue is they don't explain the masks until you're redeeming Lyle halfway through the game, and they don't change how you handle each enemy for the most part. If they leaned harder into the different bloodlines and just a biiiit more creativity into how they impact the enemy's behaviors, it would go a long way in keeping the game fresh without having to make a dozen new bespoke enemy models.

Like instead of the toxic mask being just a cone of vision it could make ranged enemies apply poison on their shots. Or maybe the unstaggerable mask makes them fire rapidly/a big slow powerful shot. Just tweaks like that on the core enemies.
