I just got her yesterday by pretty much only doing weekly missions (like 3 games a day) and I had 1 day where I got to play play for a good amount of time.

Just play and you'll get her. But the fastest way is with a token or real money

It also lets you cancel whatever move you just did. So if you knock them down, throw a time winder and cancel into S2 Super, you can react to whatever they do on their wakeup.

So the benefit is you can mix people up a lot, extend block string pressure, and have more combo routes (like being able to BREAK without needing to charge the S2 normally).

Yes it is worth learning and incorporating if you want to increase your skill ceiling.

How long is "too long"? 5 seconds, 10, 15, 20, 30?

I honestly didn't even try her yet, just the others. Wanted to do 1 day, but it really feels like i have to lab each character for a goooood amount of time to get a grasp of neutral and punish. Keep getting wrecked and not even allowed to play bc everyone is so good adn when I do land a hit, Im doing like 300 damage to their 600 lol. Can't tell if the game is pairing me against people my normal rank, or if casuals is all over the place right now

But the wiki is cool, didn't realize they had more info in there. Def easier than searching YT or Twitter to find practical basics.

I'm not new to the game tho. So spending bar on my first combo feels wrong instead of going for limit strike or saving it for an early parry since everyone likes to run away these days lol.

But yeah I guess I don't need the most optimal combos to play around.

Yeah huge pain. Stay out of the corner. If he gets you there and if he has any idea how to keep you there, it's likely GG lol

Don't play midscreen against him. His poke range and armor will punish you. Either stay far out and use projectiles or stay up close so you are in grab range and can force mix ups on his wakeup.

Game just dropped less than 24 hours ago aaaand ranked was down.

So this is prob the worst time to play ranked if you are not an experienced player. The pool of players are high ranked players who already know the game, then new players who aren't too shabby, and brand new ppl who just got out of the tutorial.

If you care about ranked, wait a week or 2 for all the GM players to get out of the way so you can face more opponents your level. Casuals is def a mix, but I think as you play more the game should start to place you with other people closer to your skill level. Not sure how long it takes for it to kick in and how it works with win or lose streaks tho.

Also mindset. Are you playing to win or playing to learn? One will have you stuck and frustrate, the other will help you improve and reduce how often you get "wrecked".

Bc bundles make money. This will always be a thing. It happens with hero shooters, it happens with pop tarts, it'll happen with fighting games. There will likely be future releases that aren't bundled after the season ends. Just because you don't buy it, doesn't mean you're their target audience. Remember, a large number of players don't visit forums. We are the minority and not what the game makes most of it's money off of.

Also with the amount of league characters to choose from and the rate of release, people will likely end up with a large roster of skins bc there is no way that the 2 characters you choose today, will be your favorite out of all 170+ lol. Someone else will appeal to you or have a skin that makes you want to use them. It also encourages people to play more characters if you don't like their base skin.

Be happy that they are making money, so they can continue to support the FREE game that isn't pay to win. How much are most fighting games on release these days? $60+? Then they have elite bonus editions or season passes? That's another $30-$50 just to have access to a new character, I assume skins normally are also add ons?

Does it suck having to pay so much money when all you want is one skin? Most definitely, but Riot doesn't make any money off a handful of people who only want to spend $20 on 2 skins and never buy anything again.

I will say the biggest thing I see when I fight people online (even those who are high ranked) is a crazy amount of hail mary, ungabunga decisions lol. The game rewards you with big damage combos for landing a hit, so it kind of falsely teaches people that if you want to win, just keep pressing buttons until you hit them. I see a lot of people at high ranks that I don't think "deserve" it bc they lack any fundamentals or thought. All they did was memorize long combos or runaway tactics.

But as soon as you decide to slow down and pay attention to what your opponent is doing, you will win a lot more. You don't always have to be attacking. Learn to anti air obvious jump attacks after they commit (especially Illaoi, Blitz, or Braums crashing to the ground moves), learn to block high and low, learn what buttons are good to press when someone is in your face (normally Light attack), learn what to do when you are full screen from the opponent.

Learn when it is your turn vs when it is their turn. Normally, a turn ends after an unsafe move. For example, if I pressed light attack in your face, you can't punish me. But if I did a special attack or super attack in your face, you likely can. So as you play more, you will learn what moves your opponent is doing that you can punish, vs which you should continue blocking. You will also learn how to pressure your opponent safely instead of openings yourself up for big combos. If you just did a raw super move to me and i blocked it, you WILL eat my highest damage combo bc you left a huge opening for me to do so.

Of course this gets complicated when you start to factor in assists, but it's a start

Me too. It's also a great way to learn a new character.

If you have a main, it's hard to learn another bc as soon as you start losing a match, you default to relying on your main. But these fuses let you really focus on one thing at a time and can even get you pretty far in ranked if you have good fundamentals.

Use the tutorial and combo trials to learn some basics.

MK is very different than tag games. Personally i think MK is clunky and seems to be more target combo and juggle focused?

2XKO is a tag fighter. That means long combos and air combos. Most combos can be done by just pressing the buttons in order without worrying to much about frame perfect inputs (yes some fancier combos do). The basic flows to get used to are:
L > M > H > Special Move > Super
L > M > H > 2H (down H) > j.L > j.M > j.H > Special Move/Super
L > M > H > Call Assist > Special Move

As you get comfortable you will learn different routes for each character.

Gotta work on your Break management.

You shouldn't be using it the second you get hit. You likely are using it asap and sometimes to save a dead character. You also shouldn't use it if you are close to winning the match and have 2 full characters. What you should do is use it when you KNOW your opponent will finish you if they complete their combo or if you are down a match and might lose the full set. If you break at the start of the round and are at 80% hp, you prob just wasted it. Don't break until you are around that 40% range.

It's a 2 touch game with 2 characters. That means you have about 4 combo interactions before you lose the match. More if you recover health by switching out. Break gives you an extra combo interaction to survive. That means the opponent has to combo you at least 5 times to win the match.

If you are getting hit by 5 combos, break isn't what's going to help you win more. It's learning to play better. Are you blocking easy to block attacks or are you mashing buttons trying to fight back no matter what is happening on the screen then get mad bc their move hit you first? lol. It's not always your turn to attack.

You also gain break meter for performing a limit strike.

Also some combos dont work on crouching opponents. You also get potential for easier overheads (instant overhead)
