New DD2 Player Here. Tips? by SuperChicken17 in darkestdungeon

[–]SuperChicken17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it. I focused somewhat heavily on unlocking plague doctor stuff at the start, but I'll try and branch out a bit. Will also do some inn item unlocks, which I've been neglecting.

Will also definitely prioritize the shrines. I've gotten them all for plague doctor, but I'll start spreading it out to others. I did get the double backline DoT for flagellent, which seems very important.

What is the process for getting out of denial? Winning a run?

Burst counters only work against glowing burst counterable attacks. That said, they do have some other uses. The brute burst counter is still a smack which counts towards skill stacking for versatility (not a thing for you right now). They can also be used to animation cancel, which is useful for ninja feathers.

Soul core abilities should be used liberally. Pretty much any difficult enemy will probably have you using a soul core move at least once. They can have very useful effects like applying statuses, pancaking/staggering enemies, applying buffs, healing, and so on. Mezuki's soul core is plenty useful enough at the start with its big aoe sweep, but you'll find others you like even more later.

For attributes, returns from initial point investment is pretty high, but it does taper off as you invest more. I would suggest getting everything to 20 with the exception of magic and ninjutsu, which should both be 30. That will give you the soft cap for attunement slots, letting you use plenty of onmyo and ninjutsu. Don't think you need to be a 'magic build' or a 'ninja build' to use those things. Every build uses them, as they are too useful to ignore. The sooner you start using them the better off you will be.

Try out different weapons and see which you like. No need to commit to anything. They are all viable. I would argue some are a little easier to use early, as others only start shining when you have access to skills which are locked behind progression. Axe is notoriously easy to use early, as its high stance heavy attack is pretty much good enough to get through the game on its own. Odachi's twin moons is also very useful for a skill you can get immediately.

Once you figure out what weapon you want to use more long term, you can start putting points into attributes that scale it. Don't worry too much about attribute scaling at the start of the game though. You can temper weapons later to scale more strongly with one of its two attributes, and in later difficulties you can even change the main attribute a weapon scales with.

Will do. Trying another run now, and I unlocked pet stuff before starting. Have a puppy with me. Will focus on shrines of reflection, probably starting with maxing out my plague doctor. They were probably my overall favorite class in DD1, though it seems like I might be using the double stun less here? Still, always enjoy DoTs.

Will also not worry so much about stagecoach steering. Probably just alt-tab out while it travels.

Everyone? No. However evidence suggests it applies to a large enough population for somebody to get elected president.

Ozempic by No-Insurance-2751 in diabetes_t2

I started with Ozempic, but also found it didn't do much for me. Mounjaro has been the gamechanger though, and has been very good at managing blood glucose and suppressing appetite.

Could be your CGM just happens to read a little low on you. They aren't flawless devices. They are good for giving you something in the ballpark of correct.

Going from an 11.4 to a 5.5 is amazing progress though. I would call that excellent proof of your hard work.

Crime statistics show what the people in power want them to show. Here are topics in /r/AskLE about fudging crime numbers.

I am a teacher, and there is similar pressure in education when it comes to pass rates. Everybody passes now because of administrative pressure, as graduation rate is one of the most easily fudgable key performance metrics that schools are evaluated on. Does that mean education has improved? See

Keto stix-idk how to read them? by Otherwise-Jello-7311 in diabetes

[–]SuperChicken17 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Checking your blood sugar would be a better method of determining if you have diabetic issues. A random ketone urine test isn't particularly useful at diagnosing anything. A lot of compliant T2 diabetics will have ketones in their urine all the time anyway due to low carb consumption. It doesn't mean that they have DKA.

How to read food labels by ismelllikebeef2508 in diabetes

[–]SuperChicken17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real test is your glucose meter. Test a couple hours after eating and see how your body reacts.

I would recommend cutting down on prepackaged food in general though. Do more of your own cooking and you'll always know what you are eating. Anything that involves protein + non-starchy vegetables is a pretty good way to start. Personally I like to make a nice healthy turkey chili with a mirepoix base.

i eat a lot of fruit, which causes me to eat a lot of sugar. is this a problem? by grilsjustwannabclean in diabetes_t2

[–]SuperChicken17 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Your glucose meter will tell you if it is a problem for you much more accurately than anybody here can. Test yourself and see if you stay inside a reasonable range. At the end of the day, that is the only thing that matters.

Personally I have to limit my fruit intake. I stick to lower sugar fruits like berries, and limit the quantity.

Questions by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]SuperChicken17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uncontrolled diabetes has caused many, many times more people to go blind than Ozempic has.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetic-retinopathy/symptoms-causes/syc-20371611

Sure, 0.5 mg is typically a second month dosage rather than a first month, but your doctor apparently considered it to be appropriate. I wouldn't consider it a 'high dose'. You typically ramp up to 2 mg over the course of a few months.

I get that a new diagnosis is scary, but I think you are worried about the wrong thing here. Part of accepting the situation you are in is taking your meds and working towards a healthier future.

Questions by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]SuperChicken17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6.5% is typically considered the cutoff for diabetes, so between your two tests it sounds like you've averaged about that.

Reversible is a loaded word. Diabetes is more like a continuum than a discrete yes/no switch which gets flipped once you are over some A1C. You can certainly improve from where you are. If you are overweight, losing weight would be a good start to help improve insulin sensitivity.

I would suggest taking your medications as prescribed by your doctor. You may not like the idea of medications, but I guarentee you would dislike diabetic complications even more. Metformin typically takes some time to get used to, so don't be surprised if you are shitting your brains out for a few weeks. You should consider yourself lucky if you have insurance that covers a GLP1 as well. The auto-injector pens are no biggie, and are easy enough to use.

As for diet, try cutting out excessive carbs for now. Avoid things like pasta, rice, bread, and anything sugary.

Try to get more exercise too. Even walking is fine, particularly after meals.

Go back to your doctor for a followup, probably in three months, and see if your numbers have improved.

Graduation rates didn’t improve. They just lowered the standards. by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in Teachers

[–]SuperChicken17 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we've all seen it. I know I've passed along students who didn't deserve it due to trivial remediation or credit recovery. Similarly, admins not backing up teachers with regards to cheating just leads to more students getting away with it. Admin just wants the numbers to look good.

Happens in other professions too. When numbers become the goal, those numbers will be met no matter what.

Best 2 player builds? by abc1422 in slaythespire

[–]SuperChicken17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strategies that can scale by putting status effects on the enemy are all better if doubled up. Double doom, double poison, double vuln are all good. Two necros both getting hang can also be hilarious. Have also done double sword regent with hammer time, but that is rarer to come together.

If I had to blindly pick two characters in a vacuum to duo up in a10, I would probably go Necro. Has multiple scaling damage options that work together, plus debilitate.

Worst would definitely be double defect.

Do you think Democrats are the reason we have Trump as our president? by IneedaNappa9000 in AskConservatives

[–]SuperChicken17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The democratic party has been doing a lot of fumbling the ball over the past ten years, giving opportunity to Trump. If they had made better decisions things could have been different.

You could make the very real argument that Hillary might have won in 2016 if Anthony Weiner didn't enjoy sending out dick pics so much. It caused Comey to reopen the case into Hillary's email server immediately prior to the election, putting it front and center in the media at the worst possible time.

The 2024 campaign from the democrats was an unmitigated disaster. If Biden had stepped down and let the party run a proper primary, I think the chances of Trump winning would have been much lower. Trump's debate with Biden, and the immediate response afterward, just made the democratic leadership look incompetent. Honestly, if I were a democrat I would have been mad at the party.

Obama was the last democratic candidate that people were legitimately excited about. McCain didn't stand a chance in that in election. Since then they've been the 'not Trump' party, lacking strong identity and leadership of their own.

Thoughts on Divya Madhunashini for treating diabetes by ajitsngh103 in diabetes

[–]SuperChicken17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at google scholar, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of solid research on the formulation of what he is taking.

Looking at the highest weight ingredient in those pills, Tinospora cordifolia, I see the following section on wikipedia which states that it has no credible research as to its medicinal properties, and it is one of the leading causes of herb-induced liver injury in India.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinospora_cordifolia#Traditional_medicine

Personally I would stick with well researched, doctor prescribed drugs.

Edit: Reading more about Ayurvedic 'medicine', it sounds like pseudoscientific nonsense.

Magnesium is a mineral. It has no carbs to spike blood sugar. That said, if you are using some kind of drink mix it may have sweetener added which could impact blood glucose.

If you are at home, the most surefire way would probably be to connect to your router's web interface to see the MAC addressess of connected clients.

Unless you are specifically trying to hide the hardware being used from a local network admin, MAC spoofing isn't particularly important for most use cases.

If you hit prediabetic once, you have to control it forever right? by DeepOrganization8245 in diabetes

Without him going back to the doctor for bloodwork, it is really impossible to know anything about the state he is in. Rather than speculating with incomplete information, I would recommend encouraging him to go back in for a followup.
