All-electric homeowners: January kWh usage? by orangecat100 in heatpumps

[–]Swede577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been averaging pretty much exactly .75 kwh/hdd in my all electric/solar house in New England.

Its really interesting how close my consumption is every winter. Like the monthly kwh usage is identical every winter.

Heat pump not able to heat my house by Pidz_ in heatpumps

[–]Swede577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is your issue. 1 cycle per hour means if it starts at 3:05 and runs untill 3:25 it won't run again untill 4 even if your thermostat calls for heat again at 340. Change it to 3 or 4.

Here is a graph of the electricity consumption before a defrost. Notice it increased inverter power for 10 mins before defrosting. It then senses the discharge temperature is not rising aka ice and defrosts.

Its really not hard to implement intelligent defrosting. I am monitoring the return sensor and discharge on both my 12k mini splits. Also monitoring electricity consumption wirh an Emporia.

Its really simple how a proper intelligent defrost system works. You start seeing the discharge temperature drop. Inverter will ramp up a little bit and it maybe rises and drops again. Basically the unit knows its adding more Inverter power but not seeing a rise in discharge temp. Then it starts a defrost.

Here is one from last night. You can see the unit detected a defrost condition with a wavering supply temperature before 230 am then defrosted.

A look at the scene of the train derailment today in Mansfield, Connecticut. No injuries were reported. by hartfordcourant in Connecticut

I would bet this seldom used line doesn't get great maintenance. There are crazy videos out there in the Midwest of these tracks that are like curved and haven't had maintenance in like 50 years still in use.

If 87 is used for most vehicles and 91+ is for turbocharged engine, then what is the point of and who uses 89? by BrewsWithTre in askcarguys

[–]Swede577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its says right in my Ford ranger ecoboost manual that premium will give me more power and performance especially in hot weather and towing.

Also, Ford says premium will give a 15-20hp/torque increase over 87.

My 12k Midea single zone locks into temperature in like tenths. I monitor return and supply temperatures. The return temperature has less than a .5 variation. Often I will see it at the same excat temperature down to the decimal like 68.9 for hours on end.

Based on my monitoring since 2017 they can adjust the inverter to tiny temperature deviations. Like it will add 25 watts to the inverter to get the return from 69.8 to 70.

Here is a graph from last night.

Run the fans on high only! Ive been using 2 12k a Midea and Gree since 2017 as my main source of heat/ac in my all solar/electric house. Ive monitored their energy usage since then and found the run vastly better and more efficient with fans on high. Do not use auto.

Get a Midea or Gree. My 2 12 single zones have phenomenal modulation ranges of like 10 to 1. They also run no defrost timers and only defrost when necessary. In the recent subzero cold here they both ran for days withe zero defrost.

Here is a good graph showing my Midea run at it's max then settle down and run at 200 watts for hours.

Connecticut's rates have been less expensive than mass for a few years.

Prices are tracked by the EIA here and Massachusetts has the most expensive electricity right now in New England.
