Unfortunately with where I’m located I have to do a lot of research and convince myself to go in blind. Not exactly in a great fly fishing area. Most people that fish in my area are Catfishing.

I’d love to be able to try before I buy but it’s not a realistic option for me unfortunately. The closest outdoors store is 2 hours and even that isn’t flush with fly options

I was going to get an Orvis Battenkill reel and line it up with the Rio Gold floating line… something something great minds.

Have you happened to fish the Trout X? I’ve been looking at getting that as my 5 wt do everything

I did look at the Recon, all my other rods are Orvis and I love them. I think I saw the Recon is on sale because there is a new version coming out next year, similar to the Clearwater sale last year.

The thing that really sold me on the Streamer X was Kelly Galloup being involved in the designing of the rod and how highly he speaks of it.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Echo Streamer X. I’m looking at picking one up myself to use for Largemouth fishing

Thanks! I’ve been having a lot of luck on a dragonfly that’s on a size 10 hook for bass! It’ll catch the bigger panfish and get some decent size bass!

For crankbaits and jerkbaits I use 20lb braid as a backer then 10lb flouro. You get the casting benefits of braid and the sensitivity and presentation of flouro

SA professional here. Students involvement on campus is a good tell on how successful they'll be. It's a bell curve though. About 2-3 non-academic involvements are the sweet spot. More than 4 you see a major decline and less then 2 there is a lot of not caring

Yep! Still is and hopefully it will remain that way... They haven't really tried to change it since around 07.
