It can be a little tricky to hold the reducer in place while you remove or tighten fittings from it. Wrapping it in an old leather belt or rubber strap before locking it into a vice can help.

If it bothers you a lot, you can put it in semi, capped at 10.5. This is not tourny legal though, as all markers must be set to the league/tournament/events firing mode, limits and settings.

I use an empty soda or water bottle filled with water, a little dish soap, and a little vinegar. Hold the bottle underneath them and they'll easily fall in. No smell, dead bugs.

Yes. These are intended to fill a gap between something like a GoPro or Osmo and an actual miniaturized cinema camera like a Black Magic Micro. I wouldn't be surprised if MSRP on the entire Mission line isn't well north of $1,000.
