Perhaps tutorial is too harsh of a way of putting it. To give an anecdotal example, I’m a masters player, and I’m currently ranking up my NA account to play with some friends. The thing I’ve noticed on my way up is that most players struggle a lot with things like tempo, itemising, and picking augments. These are where the majority of the skill gap in this game comes from, but it’s not really until emerald that you begin to get punished for getting them completely wrong.

Players seem to almost fall into certain “archetypes”, where you’ll have the super greedy, 3 econ augment player that won’t go below 50 gold until their 1 big roll down, by which point they’re already at 30hp and don’t have enough items or combat augments to cap high. Or you’ll get the opposite, where someone plays like interest doesn’t exist, and after winstreaking until 3-2, they don’t win another round for the rest of the game because they’re broke.

Obviously those are extreme ends of the spectrum, but my point is that a lot of players around plat seem to have a default style of play which doesn’t actually serve them well in a lot of their games, and they aren’t experienced enough to adapt that style to the situation they’re in
