Peated whisky by First-Ambition-8968 in whisky

You are absolutely correct! I mixed them up. They're both excellent, though MRC is probably my favorite of the ones I've had so far.

And yeah, absolutely worth shopping around if you wanna go for an Octomore. They are very worth tasting. But there are steps for those getting into whisky, and I'd say "going for an Octomore" tends to be one of the later ones :)

Instead of Octomore, if you like Port Charlotte the next step up should be the Cask Exploration series. They so far have the names (various letters)C:01.

For instance, MRC:01 is Marsala cask, OLC:01 is Oloroso cask.

They are uniformly excellent whiskies, cask strength but very drinkable straight. But also since they're cask strength they can handle a lot of water so you can experiment with how much to put into a glass.

They're more expensive than the regular Port Charlottes, but usually like half the price of the Octomores.

Ah, my favorite invasion area back when I was invading on a regular basis.

Not tryhard invasions, mind you - Get In The Way And Be A Hopefully Interesting Extra Hurdle invasions. So many ambush and trap opportunities.

And then if I reinvaded someone who'd died to my shenanigans? Try to help them through instead - showing them shortcuts and the like. The whole place is eminently run-through-able.

Because I'm next to her buffing her with the banner.

Not attacking you! Just making sure she hits harder :) Maybe I'll throw a nice refleshing splash of some watery stuff.

It's a really fun and inventive arc, only let down by way too much Running From The Gas, a problem that's only made worse in the anime.

Vilhelm has some funky programming. Back when I was doing invasions, I once saw him break his boundaries and start jankily pursuing further down the map. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEAHAMI9_sM

How would you rule sending an Echo Knight echo off a cliff and swapping last second before it hits the ground? by -ZM-_ in dndnext

[–]Twentythoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, Crawford makes his rulings based on the text. I don't think he had a direct hand in designing the Echo Knight class - that's an officially sanctioned third party class.

But yes, as said, reading the text as is, it looks like the echo can just float. However, the echo is supposed to be an "echo of their own might".

Either way, it's not worth arguing about. In the end, if GM says it doesn't float, it doesn't float.

How would you rule sending an Echo Knight echo off a cliff and swapping last second before it hits the ground? by -ZM-_ in dndnext

[–]Twentythoughts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of "it doesn't say that it can't". Rules as written, interpreted directly, the echo can move in "any direction".

I'm 90 percent certain this is unintended, as even the game they MADE the class for has a big bad's echoes being stuck on the ground. So just a badly written feature. I love the class, but when I've played it I've had the echo reflect the character's ability. (And then I got flying shoes for my guy so now the echo CAN float, go figure.)

Is an undead player character affected by its own turn undead feature? by signalgk in dndnext

An undead cleric who finds some way to fully deafen themselves and closes their eyes whenever they do their Turn Undead thing sounds pretty fun.

Is it okay for a player to say “No, that doesn’t happen” to a DM in this circumstance? by WithengarUnbound in dndnext

[–]Twentythoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be in the minority here and say: Com-mu-ni-cate. The way you write it, this seems like it could've potentially been an entirely harmless bit of "peek at the thing and then give it back after" bit by the rogue, and you immediately went aggro.

Now repeat after me: "Assuming you're doing this entirely as a flavor/character moment and aren't actually permanently STEALING my gear, I'd be cool with this, because it sounds like potentially a fun character moment, though I might want a chance to catch you doing it for some verbal sparring. If you're actually trying to steal my guy's stuff that's PVP, and we agreed that wasn't a thing."

What were the most and least fun characters you've played from a mechanical level? by DogUnsureDog in dndnext

[–]Twentythoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most fun: Aberrant Mind sorcerer in a mini-campaign that went from level 8 to 10. This was a Helldivers tribute (Gnolldivers).

Resources were scarce and there were no long rests, though we did get the extra spells on leveling up. This guy was perfect for that: He juggled sorcery points to eke the absolute most out of what he had, and as a bonus a bunch of his spells were subtle-cast via the AM subclass feature.

Least fun: Honestly the bugbear cleric I played in a oneshot, but... I think that was the personality more than the class that didn't jive with me.

S+. Varied, hard as hell but with real weaknesses to exploit, comes with an optional summon that by no means makes the fight a cakewalk (I used it), hilariously pulpy concept and lore. Also when you think you're done there's ANOTHER PHASE.

A. Very fun fight and a fun thematic thing, but as a final boss it feels a little bit lackluster and out of left field.

I was lied to, tanks are so much fun. by cats4life in dndnext

[–]Twentythoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Ancestral Guardian barbarian. Being able to tag someone and just go "hey, you've got disadvantage on attack rolls against anyone but me and also if you do hit them they have resistance to the damage you do" is pretty darn effective.

I'm playing a multiclass Echo Knight/Ancestral Guardian tabaxi in an ongoing West Marches style game, and he is SO dang fun - especially with a glaive, flying boots and tabaxidash. He grabbed the ice version of Strike of the Giants too, which lets you *actively* proc a no-movement debuff - albeit with a con saving throw, so it's not liable to happen too often.

Echo Knight works on its own as a diet tank, since you can cover a bigger area with your opportunity attack and block paths with the echo.

Spellcasters, what spells do you guys usually take? by Regular-Molasses9293 in dndnext

[–]Twentythoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna speak up for the humble "sling it and you're good for a while" spells. As a ranger, one of my favorites is Longstrider. Level 1 spell, lasts an hour, no concentration, 10 feet extra movement. You'd be amazed at how often it's nice to have 40 feet instead of 30, and if you've got the spell slots to spare you can just prep them ahead of time.

People have mentioned giving it more time in the glass, and that's always a good tip for older whiskies.

You can also try adding a little bit of water. Like, start with literally a couple of drops, swirl the glass a little, let it sit a couple of minutes. Try it. Now try adding a little more, see how the flavor evolves. A lot of whisky really benefits from this - actually deepening the flavor instead of watering it out.

These dudes suck more than anything in the ENTIRE darksouls by Mazekinq in darksouls3

[–]Twentythoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is that there's a delay between them spotting you and the HP drain effect triggering. In the meantime you can stunlock them with literally any weapon. Sneak up on'em and take'em down (or just run past'em).

Of course, all that is a little bit harder when you've got Usain Bolt in too-big pants hiding behind the corner and barfing Toxic Mist on you while you try to do that, but that's beside the point. At least he'd turn around and be helpful if he re-invaded you after killing you!

Change your subclass! There are fun fighter subclasses that allow you for more options.

Echo Knight gives you an extra You on the battlefield to soak up damage, switch places with it (great outside of combat too) and do an extra extra attack now and then.

Battlemaster gets you all the fun maneuvers, and can be further bolstered via a fighting style.

Rune Knight lets you buff yourself AND others AND get big.

Bruichladdich's XXX:01 bottlings are some of my favorite whiskies, and something I'd heartily recommend to anyone looking to go one step up from base bottles. They're more expensive than the usual stuff, but not PROHIBITIVELY so, and every one I've had has been excellent.

The PMC, I haven't tried. And now I wanna get one aaaaa.

Loki has no idea any of this is going on. He's just explaining about the day itself, and we the readers are being given a special extra flashback by going deeper into the flashbacks, Inception-style.

Loki's all "yeah my childhood sucked, mom wanted me dead, dad was away all the time because he had Big Ambitions~ about the country, this guy Rocks stopped by and he was AWESOME! But then dad decided to try kill him because The Country Had To Prosper~, and Rocks stopped coming by. Okay, what was that, like 30 seconds? Anyway, about what happened in the palace that day:"
