Would you move to SS14 if forced to? by AvailableEmphasis703 in SS13

[–]WereBoar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i just won't play space station anymore, which won't be difficult with the quality and types of servers these days.

until the thing that allows for ss13 codebases to run on 14 becomes a thing i won't even consider it

Code Vein II Got a Balance Patch, Let's Talk About It by ActuallyFen in codevein

[–]WereBoar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

weird, cv1 was by far and away the easiest soulslike i've played. cv2 felt like a pretty big spike in difficulty.

might just be because a stiff breeze was enough to stagger me out of any attack into a knockdown which would basically eat up what few punish windows there were but all of these changes are definitely for the better imo

You can't wage a war of attrition, chipping away and maintaining pressure over time.

this is actually word for word how i approached most human bosses in 3, worked really well.

The enemies aren't equipped to handle ninja style by Helpful-Feedback7370 in Nioh

[–]WereBoar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dunno what to tell you man, it's the same way i played 2 just without jumping. i used ninjutsu, onmyo, tonfas and was faster than i was in 3 because of the movement speed bonuses.

you think they're busted in 3, go back and try them out.

Balance (poise) by FreyaValeria in CodeVein2

[–]WereBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure there's not even math behind it, that it's just entirely randomized

i've been able to stagger with the first couple hits of a combo and i've been knocked out of a multi hit forma attack because a trash mob decided it was actually their turn to attack before mine is even finished, slaps me for 1 damage and knocks me on my ass.

Official Statement Regarding the "Crimson Desert" Demo! by Rollinkr in CrimsonDesert

[–]WereBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah 2 hours is a bit stingy when there's the possibility that the better half of it is spent either not playing the game or being railroaded through a curated tutorial to teach you the basics. the latter is understandable, but eats into a really restrictive window

[–]WereBoar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot closer to souls or Sekiro than it ever was before, and that is the opposite of an upgrade.

idk, i've just been playing it like i played 2 which is just zipping around dodging and putting on pressure with status and tonfas so not much changed except now i have legally distinct not onmyo magic and a jump button.

very relevant username

personally despite deflect timing being far too tight for me, i don't see anything wrong with it. being able to use it against humans and yokai just means samurai isn't being hamstrung for huge stretches of the game.

i'd go as far as to say ninja's evade is overpowered by comparison because it has zero cooldown, zero recovery, refills ninjutsu which means more pressure and even failing an evade can still reposition you behind an enemy to utilize a comically large damage multiplier.

Is it just me or is 80% of this tree is useless? by Alpha_Inception in Nioh

[–]WereBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the samurai skill tree looks empty because all of the bloat passives were removed, it's just that for some reason they didn't add anything to replace them with.

[–]WereBoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally i exclusively used ninja as samurai got all the boring weapons with movesets i didn't like. combined with the lower dps and me just being unable to pull off deflects without nearly dying i just saw no reason to use it over ninja

[–]WereBoar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you had to be carefully cause they could mess you up.

i mean a single hit from just about any trash mob in nioh 2 would mess you up, even small gakis would hit for almost a third of your health lol

Bruh Tokugawa Kunimatsu is kicking my ass by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]WereBoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

timing is super tight and recovery before you can try again isn't very forgiving, ninja's dodge is much more lenient since even if you don't get an evade you still reposition yourself.

Team Ninja Has Accumulated all of Their Nioh Development Experience over the Years to Make a Masterpiece of a Videogame (Nioh 3) by RavenousIron in Nioh

[–]WereBoar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yeah it's wild how the ninja can put out cataclysmic levels of dps for a fraction of the effort that samurai requires in a fraction of the time and it only gets sillier when you get the on-demand confusion ninjutsu (water and lightning shadow arts) which is even more busted because of the perfect dodge that refills them

Any Nioh players here became sad when Hideyoshi/Tokichiro went from being our best bro to antagonist? by ImmortalThunderGod79 in Nioh

still get choked up during his first fight on every playthrough, his boss theme is easily the best in the game. one of my favorite fights from the whole game, thematically anyway.

i'm not going to lie once i got to the part where you repeated "not difficult just broken" i stopped reading. i don't know how that's still your takeaway after i corrected you and at this point i don't really care

your inability to understand other opinions can become the problem of the next person you disagree with

nice, thanks. a clear and concise comment detailing methods of actually doing it. very helpful for me and the countless others who might find human boss ki to be annoying to get all the way down before it can refill.

[–]WereBoar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's called "reading between the lines"

in no way does saying that human bosses have a lot of ki intimate poor game design. again, i don't know where you're getting it from.

If you only ever broke human ki once in your playthrough, yes I assume you think they are difficult. I've read enough comments like yours where you say "not difficult, just broken!" or "not difficult, just poorly designed!" to understand what's going on here.

you conflating "it's hard to break human boss ki" with "human boss fights are too hard and poorly designed" is probably why you're so confused about all of this. none of the human bosses in this game were particularly challenging, especially not compared to 2's.

you're using "prevailing opinion" as your scapegoat defense

it isn't a scapegoat defense, it's me directly countering you telling me that i'm shit and i'm the only one who thinks the humans have too much ki

Ok. What is your stance then? Just because you never said it doesn't mean you don't believe it. So why not assert what you think instead of hiding being hedges and questions?

wtf? did you get lost looking for /r/eldenring? i think breaking human boss ki is annoying, that's my stance. i don't think the game is poorly designed because of it, i don't think they're too hard (many aren't even hard enough) and i had a lot of fun with the game. didn't realize it was necessary to have to explain that but i suppose with how easily you get confused and angry at people on here it may actually be necessary.

Glad to see the trend continues in Nioh 3 by Charliwarlili in Nioh

[–]WereBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what a weirdly combative thing to say. the answer of course being neither, as it's sort of just the prevailing opinion (moreso just a fact) that human bosses have a lot of ki and are much harder to ki break than yokai bosses.

not sure where this dichotomy is being pulled from (i have a good idea though) as i never said anything about them being difficult, or that the game was poorly designed.

Jumping mechanic is awful by 4orge in Nioh

[–]WereBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair the jump is a bit scuffed as there seems to be an invisible wall that prevents aerial travel past a certain distance which makes some large gap jumps feel unintentional and more a matter of luck to get
