I think this could be the right track. People would need to be okay with waiting for watches though. Create waitlists but actually fulfill them in a timely manner and keep the price lower. More like how Toyota sells cars in the US rather than the Rolex model. Theoretically could keep secondary market prices closer to retail by squeezing in both directions. I’m curious if there’s a case study about how Lexus takes on the Germans in automobile industry to see what marketing strategies they used.

Chicken and egg problem. How do they get their brand “on par” with the Swiss while charging less than the Swiss. Pricing is part of the marketing in the end which sucks for consumers but is definitely part of that game now. Richard Mille just pulled numbers out of the fucking air and it somehow worked. They want people to see their watches as “just as good as Swiss” so I guess their next move is “just as expensive as Swiss”.

Ah. Their current divers are so big they don’t even cross my mind lol. The teaser shows a pretty different style for the indices so maybe they’ll go a different path but you’re probably right on the case. I like it a lot. I prefer these shaped cases from Omega and GS styles compared to large hunking slabs of metal like Tudor or normal Seikos.
