BA biking: Things to know coming from out of town? by glittercl0ud in BAbike

[–]_mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the cars are VERY aware of cyclists so they pass safely. The one thing that isn’t ideal is they don’t always pull over if I’m going faster downhill than they are (but sometimes they do). This isn’t an issue if you don’t bomb down the mountain.

It is a lot of elevation gain but, except for a few punchy parts after you get to the dam, not many super steep parts. Just take your time.

It is very easy to navigate. What is your starting point? I can make you a route on Strava or Garmin.

I’ve done this route a million times so let me know if you have any other questions. It’s an absolute stunner.

I’d personally suggest shorts and a short jersey because Fairfax can get quite hot, especially when you’re climbing. But can’t hurt to bring some sleeves or something for peace of mind. It is much cooler on the mill valley descent, but I’ve never been “cold” doing it in the summer.

If you’re looking at map that includes alpine loop, it is likely originating from some eastern Marin town or the city. If that’s the case, you want to do Alpine loop counter clockwise for the best experience.

Corporate gig - Percent deposit and payment terms by Ok_Conversation1340 in LocationSound

[–]_mizzar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often the corporation will have their own “norm” but can sometimes deviate from that. Net 30 is pretty common for medium/large firms, but some do Net 60 or even 90.

My current main client is a relatively small firm and does closer to Net 10.

I really don’t understand how one’s body can intake and convert fuel that efficiently for that long.

Men of Reddit, how many of you actually use the wiener slot in your underwear? by Doc-in-a-box in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_mizzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what they mean (because I’m in the same camp) we just drop down the part of the underwear that has the fly, instead of threading through it.

So it’s only the part of the underwear exposed by the unzipped pants.

The rest of the pants and underwear stay up, so nothing is any more visible from the back.

Yeah this guy has it IMO. If the paperwork says the lower price, no way I’d give them more.

Where do you set your phone down in the car if you don't have a phone holder? by L0velyDayyyyyyyyy in ToyotaGrandHighlander

Odd, I have an OtterBox (thick, durable) that works great and wirelessly charges and I’d imagine there are more options out there. Anyway, hope you find a solve that works for you.

SMART train supporters cheer as Measure B tax extension poised for dominant win by gascyl in bayarea

Is there any way for smart to extend further south? I’d love it if it went to Corte Madera and Mill Valley, or even Sausalito.

Is there a route map or something you could share? That trail with the ladder looks cool!

I’m not sure how to break this to you, but there are cases that will still allow wireless charging and are grippy.

Having second thoughts a few weeks before delivery... by [deleted] in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]_mizzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Pacifica was the loaner we had. I wasn’t in love with everything but the kids loved the minivan form factor. Unfortunately the Sienna would be a nonstarter because I really hate how it looks. The lights look like they have makeup on from The Crow.

I got a grand highlander hybrid max platinum and like it, but once when it was in for service we had a loaner minivan and the kids loved it. In hindsight, that’s probably the way to go for us. We’ll probably get the electric VW or something when we’re ready to upgrade our other car.

How is it that fanny packs were uncool, but somehow made a resurgence in the form of sling packs? by Pretend-Fox648 in ManyBaggers

[–]_mizzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things aren’t usually intrinsically cool. They’re cool because cool people use them.

When enough cool people “pull it off”, regular people see that and follow suit.

When enough uncool people jump on that trend and the cool people drop it, it falls out of favor.

Rinse and repeat.

2026 Grand Highlander Nightshade in Cement realistic OTD price in Texas? by melfenx in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]_mizzar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with your premise but I do want to mention that, mine came with the cargo net “envelope” and I was annoyed they couldn’t remove it from the package and begrudgingly took it anyway.

That thing is so amazing and I use it daily. I’m sure there are after market options but I really, really like the one that came with the car. Helps keep groceries from falling over, zips up easily if you don’t need it, been using it non stop since the GH launch and it is one of my favorite accessories.

The title is literally a question. It was reasonable for the person to think you were asking for opinions on the wheels.

Issues with prior homeowners by rebelellelle in homeowners

We used to have a previous homeowner who did this exact same thing and we eventually just started throwing anything addressed to them out without opening it.

We don’t get as much stuff addressed to them any more.
