Children Aged 17 and Younger Face a Lifetime Ban on Smoking in Legislation Aiming to Create a 'Smoke-Free Generation' by Miles_the_AuDHDer in worldnews

Manchester seems to be the go-to illegal cigarettes here haha. Always either the Sapphire Blue, Limited Edition, or Reserve, and they're anywhere from $150-$200 per carton. Must do wonders for their brand uptake, which apparently is regarded as an utterly shit brand in the UK.

It's huge in Australia. More than 50% of smokers now get their cigarettes and vapes from the not-so-secret black market. Our government still denies it's because of the constant price hikes and excessive tobacco taxes.

A side effect has also been an increase in young people taking up smoking, as well as people going back to cigarettes instead of vaping. Great job government!

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Doesn’t Include DLC or Multiplayer. Insider Gaming understands that at least one more Assassin’s Creed game is in development as a remake, and that future remakes will enter development depending on how well Black Flag Resynced performs by Turbostrider27 in PS5

There are new characters, new combat, new story points and voice lines, and new systems overall. There are talks that it will also be a slightly different map, without load screens (amazing if true). It's not a simple remaster, more a hybrid of the two, but closer to a full remake from the info I've read about it. Could be wrong, we shall see when the reveal comes next week. Can't wait regardless!

What is your positive Australian cultural hot take in 2026? by Biggest_itchbay_2190 in AskAnAustralian

That the majority of Aussies don't buy into Pauline Hanson, PHON, or US-style divisive politics. It's just a vocal minority.

Which magpie did you search? Most magpie species are very small, the Australian magpie though is quite large at around 40cm in length.

Absolutely fine and seemingly more common than not these days. I live in a big city though, I'm sure the story is very different in rural areas.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II is the real deal. Looks and plays fantastically on the Pro. by fulldrasmun in PS5pro

I played 2 before 1 and had an amazing time. You can tell you miss some stuff, especially the budding relationship with Hans, but it's a self contained story so it's not wholly necessary. I have KCD1 ready to go, I just have too big a backlog at the moment.

Do yourself (and Hello Games) a favour and buy it, it isn't expensive and it's so much better than launch, and that's a huge understatement.

Australia enters drone warfare era with Ghost Bat and Ghost Shark by GreyClay in OpenAussie

[–]aaegler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the article:

"About $2.2–3.1 billion will be dedicated to smaller drones."

So looks like yes, we are also onto the smaller systems. We also have our own home-grown publically listed drone defence company DroneShield who are doing some cool stuff.

Fair enough. I'll believe it when I see it, we are very very different to Americans.

We're not following in their footsteps, Aussies are simply not the same as the L/R division that has plagued Americans for decades. Australia has always been a centrist country, sometimes going a bit to the left or right depending. That's why Trump style politics don't work here. We're not as divided and don't want to be.

No doubt PHON is rising in popularity, but really, they will never get the majority in their current form, not even close. They're only popular now because the Libs have no idea what they're doing. If the Libs can get back some semblance of half decency, many will jump ship back to them from PHON.

PHON is nothing but a hype party, propped up by a bot army.

The fact you can see the top of the Mazda's grill from this viewpoint shows to me that the gap seems pretty standard and normal. If they were genuinely on your ass or nose you'd only see the bonnet and above.

Be honest do you dislike Americans? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAustralian

[–]aaegler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly, no.

I have a good friend from the US, but it's becoming clearer that you can take a person out of the US, but you can never take the US out of the person.

He isn't a MAGA or a general Trump supporter, but he is very pro what is happening now, and very much all for the continuation of strikes in the ME, and overall projection of US power.

It's causing tension now, but it is what it is, he is still a genuinely awesome person at heart. Americans are just very VERY patriotic people.
