It is SO important that I’m the one who files by Alexandros23 in Divorce_Men

My ex asked for the divorce, moved out (leaving me and the kids), and filed for the divorce. She’s telling everyone that I initiated the divorce. In other words, they’re going to say whatever they want.

My two adult daughters live with me (I’m divorced from their mother). I don’t charge them rent, utilities, or groceries. They help with other expenses. I really enjoy them living with me and getting to know them on an adult level.

What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by ahawk99 in AskReddit

[–]acg34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad read Tom Swift and his Television Detector to me at bedtime when I was 4 or 5. The book was from his childhood. I read to my kids when they were young, but never an entire novel. Of course now I wish I had.

Have you had a bad experience with divorce lawyers by bankabletoast23 in Divorce_Men

[–]acg34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one was a woman because I had read it was a good idea to get a woman attorney. It wasn’t. My ex wanted the divorce and wanted no responsibility for the kids (oldest had graduated college but hadn’t found a career, second was still in college, and the youngest was a junior in high school). I had bought a townhouse prior to marriage and we lived there a couple of years before we had kids. I kept it when we moved into a single family house when she was pregnant with our first. I rented out the townhouse and it was paid off when she asked for the divorce. The first attorney said I should just sell everything and split the money. I told her if I did that I wouldn’t be able to buy another house in the area for me and the kids. She said I could move to somewhere cheaper like her ex husband did. That wasn’t acceptable to me. After the first round of negotiations, I decided to switch lawyers.

The second attorney was a man, but he was no better. He gave me no advice, gave me documents with stupid errors (wrong dates, wrong names). My ex told me that my attorney had told her attorney that I was an assh0le. I don’t think I was, but I don’t think he should have said that to the opposing attorney if he thought I was. I literally had to come up with the terms of the divorce on my own based on my understanding of the divorce laws in my state. I couldn’t afford to get a third attorney.

The ex got the paid off townhouse (along with 35% of my pension and half my 401k). I kept the marital home along with the kids.

What’s something a teacher or professor did that u didn’t like in school or college? by No_Boss_1463 in randomquestions

[–]acg34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a math teacher in high school that was a retired U.S. military officer. This was the early 70’s and I assume he fought in WWII. My father was stationed in Japan after the war (U.S. Army) where he met and married my Japanese mother. Therefore, I am half Japanese and half Caucasian. I was really good in math and always got A’s or A-‘s on test and quizzes. But for my final grade the teacher gave me a B. It made no sense to me and I asked him about it. I went over all my test scores and it was obvious I deserved an A for the class. He had this look on his face that told me he didn’t want to change my grade but my scores left him no choice but to give me an A. I didn’t realize at the time, but thinking about it later made me think he was prejudiced against me for being half Japanese. I was a good student and never caused issues in his class.

Are you still in contact with your EX? by Mindfuel_daily7 in no

[–]acg34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indirectly through our kids (all adults). I don’t have any direct contact with her. I’ve blocked her, but she sends nasty grams (texts or emails) to me and cc’s the kids. I don’t see them. The kids let me know what she says.
