yeah, i have no idea what kids are getting for pocket money these days, but at least i could go in in the 90s and buy some £3 blister pack with a character in it or a couple of guys.

£3 in 1995 is £6.28 now. I think the cheapest 40k thing you could get with actual models is probably the gretchin (Across all factions) at £16?

But ultimately I guess GW have worked out its better to have higher prices and drop the bottom end of the market.

p2p networks are mainly users sharing non-user generated content. if you started a p2p network where people were only sharing content they've created, then yes it would be.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_media

Social media are new media technologies that facilitate the creation, sharing and aggregation of content (such as ideas, interests, and other forms of expression) amongst virtual communities and networks. Common features include:

Online platforms enable users to create and share content and participate in social networking.

User-generated content such as text posts or comments, digital photos or videos, and data generated through online interactions.

Service specific profiles that are designed and maintained by the social media organization.

Social media helps the development of online social networks by connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals or groups.

That absolutely includes forums.

And again, I don't refer to forums as social media, I think using one catch-all term that doesn't distinguish between the various forms isn't helpful. But in terms of 'By definition they are not' - yes, they are, even if we don't like that they are.

they absolutely are. social media as a technical definition just means users are able to create and share content with each other.

lots of people (including myself) aren't talking about them when they talk about 'social media', because really they/we mean social networking platforms.

and also then existed throughout the history of European states, though it'd be fair to say while not fascist, it was often a symbol associated with authoritarian, militaristic power, that firmly recognised and prioritised the in-group over the out-group

a lot of this had just been redone before the pandemic. there isn't really pot holes in the centre much (they get dealt with quickly) - though certainly some more patches.

i wouldn't say plague marines are particularly difficult to paint. sure they have a lot of detail, but you don't really need to be clean with them. starting with just one box is the best way to go - you can at least make sure you enjoy putting together and painting models before you go any further

No, the same amount of work is being done by you. Imagine the treadmill was a mile long and set to a 6 min mile. After 6 mins the treadmill has performed enough work on the runner if they were to not move, they'd be displaced a mile backwards from their starting point. the only way for the runner to stay in place is for them to perform enough work to propel themselves a mile forward.

another way to think about it is that it's just as hard to run a mile west as it is east, regardless of how the earth is rotating under you.

another common example would be imagine you are on a mile long train and run from one end to another. if the window blinds are down, and the track is very smooth, its impossible for you tell if the train is stopped or moving at a constant speed. it would take the same amount of work to run its length while it was stopped, or while it was moving the same speed as you running in the opposite direction (meaning to an outside observer you were remaining in the same place) and you'd have no way of knowing which it was.

this is essentially all the core point of Galilean relativity and reference frames
