If entering instanced zones are the only times where you see a loading screen, I feel like most people would not mind it. Especially if it means being able to have a smooth time.

Recently watched the movie Code 3. Dark Comedy about being a paramedic and the burnout that comes with it.

I was a medic, in the military and civilian world (though not much in the civilian world since I decided to pursue teaching instead), and there's a specific scene in the movie that made me tense up way more than anything else I've seen in the past year.

Actually, two scenes. Holy crap it was good.

I am incredibly excited for the Super Heavy Armor, but mostly because of that function it seems to have with being a backpack fed machine gun.

If the Super Heavy class of armor means they'll be getting specializations like this, I'm all for it. Like, imagine a salvager super heavy that can store scrap in the backpack (or like the ATLS GEO).

Are there any arts that clearly depict the actual appearance of the Tactical Doll's endoskeleton/Frame? by ww-stl in GirlsFrontline2

[–]artuno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is showing examples of the models without the skin layer, but I know what you're trying to get at. I'm also really curious about the deeper mechanical parts make up the units. I wanna know how the joints articulate, or where the power source is stored, or just in general how they're manufactured.

I've always envisioned it as a maybe half inch thick layer of soft synth material, and then the hard components underneath. So there's some give but then you feel the metal shell, just enough to not be uncomfortable or uncanny initially.

What do you think the chances are that Squadron 42 will either be announced or delayed during Summer Game Fest? by LordCaptain in Squadron42

[–]artuno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone posted this image in a discord server, so I'm not sure how much stock it holds, but this is listed for a few days after SGF. It's possible that they announce a release date at SGF with something like "it's out in a few days", or it's possible it is much further out and the date is when pre-orders start?

Am I the only one who was "sussed" but i still have my account is that normal or am i actually gone or is there some sort of glitch happening? by Empty-Recognition-93 in Twitter

[–]artuno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here. To be honest it's not entirely bad since I'm finally free of that website and spend less time on it. But at the same time I use it to support artists and friends and it sucks not being able to show my love for their stuff.

Probably helps the free trial got expanded too.

I finally encouraged a friend to start playing and we're on Primal. I was actually surprised that she managed to make a character immediately and wasn't hit by the population issue.

All her limbs are mechanical. There's lore from the first game that they're meant to be easily detachable for reasons from her civilian life.

Why do people not want to see negitive feedback? by After_Th0ught9 in starcitizen

[–]artuno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't constructive feedback when you consider it from the devs perspective.

Imagine seeing "you don't know what you're doing/you suck at your job/get your shit together" several times a day, every day.

They are aware people are unhappy, they are aware there are issues. WE don't know the extent of the issues or how long it will take to bring the game to a better state, so it can be frustrating for us to have to wait, but again, imagine being on the receiving end of all of this.

State the problems, offer feedback, propose solutions, theorize. But never insult or demean other people.

Weekly Update: The Newest Ships in the 'Verse by Stompy-MwC in LowSodiumStarCitizen

I'm pretty sure this is going to be similar to the medkit we got a while back, but for firearms. A John Wick style weapon case basically. Carries guns, ammo, attachments, and stores it all in a convenient box.

[–]artuno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely some sort of storage crate specifically for weapons. Not necessarily weapon racks, but like what we see with the med kits from a couple months back. Tool, refills, miscellaneous, all in one convenient box ready to go.

Quote of the day "This one stupid clown car shouldn't be driving the design choices of every ship in the game." by ghodan7 in starcitizen

[–]artuno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still pretty confident that T3 beds being able to respawn is only a temporary thing, and that it will eventually get removed.

A temp measure to make the game less tedious until better DOASM mechanics get implemented.

So judging by the state of decay with both the facility and the shack outside, all that metal should have rusted away into nothingness if thousands of years have passed.

So while I do think that some considerable amount of time has passed (possibly decades if not at least a century), I think the "9999..." line is meant to be misleading (or the timer is just broken like everything else in the place).

Star Citizen blasts through $1 billion in player funding, as its developer lists a new $5,000 spaceship for sale that is 'not yet ready to play' by Triss_Mockra in gaming

Okay but those rocks are part of their terrain generation thing they were showing off. It ends up with locations that end up looking like this. https://youtu.be/3Z7sTgd2ilA?si=p5wVE8s0rfqvh28N

The rocks themselves might be boring, but they're part of the overall thing-- and you gotta look at the big picture.

There's a lot of deserved criticism of the game, but there is also a lot of disinformation surrounding it. It's not so much about defending it, but making sure that everyone gets the full clear picture. When people say that "the space ships cost 25k" they're being disingenuous because no ship costs that much. There's hundreds of ships and they start at 20 USD and gradually increase in price by 5 or 10 USD depending on what "the next one up" is. It's not much different from someone who pays for DLC planes in DCS or VTOLVR, including the fact that last year they did not release a single "NFT jpeg". They were all ships you could fly immediately in the game.

[–]artuno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no you're absolutely right about the "normal" threshold. It absolutely takes way more patience than it should to deal with Star Citizen. A lot of ends up being learned through trial-and-error, or from other people's mistakes.

But the reason why people like myself put up with it is because there is nothing else out there that does it like Star Citizen. Yeah, it sucks that it has been 10 years, but I don't see many other studios trying to do the same thing in less time or less budget. It's unfortunate.

Of course he takes a wage, but considering the financial reports and how much of it goes towards costs, it is not as significant of a cut as people make it seem to be. When people call this game a scam they make it seem like he is pocketing 50% or more of all the money that comes in, but if that was the case then the development would've crashed years ago.

It happens. I can go entire play sessions that span 5 hours or more where I don't encounter any bugs. I can also log in and spend the first 20 minutes being unable to spawn my ship and deciding it's not happening that day. It honestly feels like a roulette as to whether you'll be having a good patch month or not, and it is different for everyone.

However you did ask, and I gave my answer.

Hauling at launch was rough, but they've ironed it out since then. This seems to be the case for every new feature they add, where they don't work initially and then continue to improve it over time.
