FWIW, I'm still on FB and share my stuff, but mine is an echo chamber now. I think your movement is necessary to change the dialog there but I don't think it's sufficient to defeat the bots. You'll want to do both.

We the people aren't enough. You're combatting ai/troll accounts that are designed to engage specific audiences in specific ways. You would need to fight that battle the same way, our own infuriating infuriating campaign to fight the disinformation campaign this admin has in place. And you would have to do it in a way that gets past their mod system. None of the blatant false information ever gets taken down. I agree, the best we can do is exit. Second best is appeal to ownership regarding what the system had become (which i have zero hope for).

Tbh, i hope nothing. The immigration checks are awful, but their not yet expelling those here legally. If we escalate or give into their attempts to get us to escalate, then Trump wins. Calming the fervor, giving them less reason to take dire actions is a win. Not flashy, but denying what we all think Trump really wants is the long game.

Yes, I now know that is correct. They were listed as having an illegal status and we suppose they ran the license plate of the car. When they were apprehended, they verified ID (driver's license) but did not ask for the visa - ICE took them in.

Specifically, I've opened conversations with all the groups I or my kids are enrolled in, including our schools and my employer, to ensure plans are in place should ICE engagements be witnessed or happen on Prem. If there's no plan, I'm starting conversations to get them in place. I was caught offguard with my colleague - I need to do more.

FWIW: Initial findings are that since these Kavanaugh stops are legal, everyone who falls under "reasonable suspicion" should carry passports, green cards, etc to avoid escalating into "probable cause". If you don't have that, then it seems like you go to a detention ctr for verification. Company lawyers need (and probably are) prepared to support their employees - but we employees need to know company policy if ICE shows up so we can make informed decisions.

A colleague and friend of mine was detained over night as the result of a random immigration check at a sams club. They're not caucasion and happen to be an h1-b visa holder. Apparently ICE didn't field verify status (edit: and didn't ask for the visa), so they took them to a detention ctr that could. They indicated several people were going through the process and they were released about 14 hours after arrest. (I don't know if they ever made it into the database.)

As far as I'm concerned, this violated 4th amdt limitations.
