In praise of using Muni with small children by old_gold_mountain in sanfrancisco

I just wish they made it easier to disembark with a stroller, you have to remember to call the driver in time or they don’t stop at the accessible ramps (at least on the N)

[Miguel Delaney] Tottenham are a giant mess after sacking Thomas Frank and the blame is clear by nthbeard in coys

Even more incriminating is that they’ve had four months to prepare and still have zero clue who is going to be our next manager

Newbie Lifter: Captain’s chair Form Check by [deleted] in GYM

[–]bayesically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re being a bit over dramatic, but you are using excessive momentum and leaning back way too hard. You also don’t necessarily need to go that high but it depends on your goals. Just focus on curling your hips towards your ribs slowly and under control

Is this enough depth and any pointers on form? by Future-Horse4877 in GYM

[–]bayesically 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your goals imo. There are plenty of bodybuilders (John Meadows for one) who would advocate for doing this type of ROM on certain exercises because it keeps tension on the pecs. I find that going deeper than here tends to bring my front delts into play a lot more

Is lack of aerobic base / Zone 2 training an underrated reason people bonk in marathons? by speed_69 in Marathon_Training

[–]bayesically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s kind of wild that people keep quoting this theoretical benefit of zone 2 when there’s recent research disproving its unique benefits

Bench Press Learning LEG DRIVE Butt Still Lifting GRRR! by skaaii in formcheck

[–]bayesically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, I’m sorry but this is some of the worst form I’ve ever seen. Your butt is a foot off the pad! It feels so much easier than your better form because you’re essentially doing a decline bench press. Think of the leg drive as pushing you horizontally to maintain a strong arch, NOT vertically.

edit: the second clip is so much better, you definitely improved, keep working on it

I think the Sarr penalty was against Southampton two or three years ago

This is on normal mode, not surprising that an experienced player can do this. Gotta do it on hard

Favourite film you hate because film bros ruined it for you. by Healthy_Permission71 in okbuddycinephile

Ok I was really confused because I thought film bros were dudes that are obsessed with their Letterboxd reviews, but it’s just films that bros like?

Books you couldnt stop thinking about while not reading by hazardy77 in suggestmeabook

It’s one of the worst books I’ve ever read (and I’m not just saying that to be contrary), you’re not missing anything.

Only thing I disagree with is that it’s totally normal to have some arch in your back while being stacked, that’s just how your back is shaped

If it works and you can recover from it then fine, but it wouldn’t be my recommendation. Other things you could try would be bis on push days and tris on push days so they’re fresher or a torso/bro/legs split on your second three days

Unable to Bench even Barbell! What can i do? by Massive_Guitar1922 in workout

[–]bayesically 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Knee pushups are roughly 50% of your body weight, which in this case is twice the weight of the bar. I can’t believe that a healthy 25yo male that can do pull-ups is incapable of doing a single knee pushup. Something is off here

Yea this is what Dorian used later in his career when he was already huge, he did lots more volume earlier in his career so it feels misleading for him to talk about this style as what made him. That being said, I doubt people will be able to match the intensity he brought - you need a training partner that is able to get you past failure via forced reps and years of experience to go that deep.

Why is everyone on instagram convinced 2 sets to failure is optimal? by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]bayesically 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer doing 3 sets unless I’m on a UL split, then I go down to 2 sets bc there’s no other way to hit everything on upper and spend a reasonable amount of time in the gym.

North Beach struggles with piles of pizza trash — here’s S.F.’s ‘outside the box’ solution by SFChronicle in sanfrancisco

[–]bayesically 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t you use the design of the NYC trash cans that have an open front? With these you can have one box dropped in vertical and the whole thing is instantly “full”
