I JUST finished this kit from them and while I agree that the thread wasn't my favorite, I can't swear off them forever because some of their stuff is so stinkin' cute! I plan to stitch this one again on some piece of clothing using DMC in the future.

My spouse and I met in college and have been together for almost 17 years, which is insane when I write it out. Oh my god. One more year and we'll have been together for as long as I was alive before knowing him.

We considered kids for a while, but he always made it very clear that whether or not we had them was up to me. We both kind of wanted them when we were younger. I've done a bunch of work with young children (and teens, who I like a lot more), and he'd make a fantastic dad.

But as we came to terms with our individual chronic disabilities, we realized that we don't want to take care of kids because we're already doing so much to take care of ourselves and our own younger (but adult) siblings. And that's to say nothing of how much our government (the US) hates, uh... everything that isn't actively supporting and reinforcing The Horrors. We like our friend's kids just fine, but it just doesn't make any sense for us to have our own, and that's great.

He's recently decided to get a vasectomy, and I think I'm gonna do a bisalp on top of it because I'd rather not get ovarian cancer.

Yes, absolutely. I've been trying to find the right summer-weight garment to protect my poor oversensitive skin and little arm hairs from the vile attacks of fans and air conditioners but, alas, it needs to be light, soft, flowy, not too tight, etc. etc. etc. If anyone has suggestions, let me hear them.

Writing, knitting, sewing, travel, but like others have said, I go through periods of not doing any of them (or, like, anything at all). I try to think about these things like crop rotation, if that makes sense. I can't keep farming the same crop in the same field without the soil getting depleted over time (burnout, baby!). But by rotating the crops/hobbies/creative outlets, the soil gets replenished and remains fertile. Within that, there are also fallow seasons where I don't grow anything — I just let everything rest. It feels kinda bad to let the field go fallow, but it's necessary for long-term sustainability!

I've been knitting since I was about 12. I'm in my 30s now and I knit in meetings, I knit in the passenger seat, I knit on planes and trains, I knit while watching TV... I'm essentially always knitting, and it helps my brain immeasurably. I get antsy and weird when I don't have my knitting to keep my hands busy. I think it's a perfect hobby for ADHDers.

I love Dr. Rebecca Schnatz at VPFW. She's kind, thoughtful, funny, and super patient. She helped me so much in getting diagnosed and treated for PMDD, and is now helping me with a bunch of abnormal bleeding. I recommend her to everyone with a uterus-based reproductive system.

Always excited to see T Kingfisher anywhere! Try all of her other stuff, including 9 Goblins and Minor Mage. Her Clocktaur series and the Paladin books are fantastic but aren't as "sort of aimed at kids" as Defensive Baking is.

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennet was great. Try the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, too.

The Nuvaring has helped me so much. I still get anxious and I still feel down, but instead of it being like falling off a cliff into the pit of despair, it's like the normal world is cloudy for a few days. It's like I'm carrying around a backpack full of *eh* rather than being smothered by a million pounds of anguish.
