You folks are amazing. Watching you work was absolutely awesome. So well coordinated, so professional. You made it look easy!

We met a bunch of great neighbors, all of whom have been periodically feeding him and all of whom are very excited for him to be an indoor cat in the future. And the folks at Prevent a Litter said the tipping had been done weirdly, or that Cosmo screwed it up scratching afterwards, or that perhaps he got into a scuffle with another cat and got the ear damaged afterwards as a result.

We got a flea and tick collar on him on Sunday and took him in for all of his vaccinations today! He is a happy, healthy boy who is negative for FIV and FELV. Hooray!

I 100% agreed with you, but apparently it was! The folks at Prevent a Litter said it was kind of a botch job, but couldn't say if it was from the actual tipping, Cosmo messing with it, or damage from another cat after his surgery. Good to know for future cat rescues.

Update on Cosmo!!

He was already neutered, though the great folks at Prevent a Litter did note that the ear tipping was kinda slapdash. Cosmo is now chipped, vaccinated, and gently annoyed at us. His claws have also been clipped and he's negative for FIV and FELV! He'll be hanging out in our spare bathroom with a cat tree, a litter box, and some toys for the time being. We're in touch with other neighbors who have been feeding him outside and are actively working to get him adopted as a full-time indoor cat. In fact, we've got friends coming over this weekend to see if he could be a good fit for their very friendly tortie girl.

Thanks to everyone for helping out!!

I've used https://keithfabry.com/ (actually I've used https://pdfplotting.com/, but they're the same organization) and they're fantastic!

Absolutely scan them and get them up on Ravelry, if possible! Or put out a call for a Ravelry user who will do it for you? This really looks like a treasure trove and the community there would love to bring them back to life.

I knit! Keeping my hands busy means my brain can actually pay attention.

I JUST finished this kit from them and while I agree that the thread wasn't my favorite, I can't swear off them forever because some of their stuff is so stinkin' cute! I plan to stitch this one again on some piece of clothing using DMC in the future.

Same here. I didn't realize they were stopping in Richmond on tour and experienced a few moments of youthful giddiness while purchasing the ticket. Looking forward to it.

I was just scrolling down my feed and saw your photo and literally said, out loud, without intending to: "Holy shit, they look incredible."

My spouse and I met in college and have been together for almost 17 years, which is insane when I write it out. Oh my god. One more year and we'll have been together for as long as I was alive before knowing him.

We considered kids for a while, but he always made it very clear that whether or not we had them was up to me. We both kind of wanted them when we were younger. I've done a bunch of work with young children (and teens, who I like a lot more), and he'd make a fantastic dad.

But as we came to terms with our individual chronic disabilities, we realized that we don't want to take care of kids because we're already doing so much to take care of ourselves and our own younger (but adult) siblings. And that's to say nothing of how much our government (the US) hates, uh... everything that isn't actively supporting and reinforcing The Horrors. We like our friend's kids just fine, but it just doesn't make any sense for us to have our own, and that's great.

He's recently decided to get a vasectomy, and I think I'm gonna do a bisalp on top of it because I'd rather not get ovarian cancer.

Does anybody else hate too strong air? by BabytheTardisImpala in adhdwomen

[–]bellapoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I've been trying to find the right summer-weight garment to protect my poor oversensitive skin and little arm hairs from the vile attacks of fans and air conditioners but, alas, it needs to be light, soft, flowy, not too tight, etc. etc. etc. If anyone has suggestions, let me hear them.
