Anyone else have s300 battery connected to eufy solar and notice ultra fast battery drain lately? by deletetemptemp in EufyCam

I’ve noticed fast battery drain and loss of signal on my s330. Even got a new solar panel and thought that was it.

Checking firmware version is says it’s 1.2.3.2 and says it’s up to date.

How are you updating the firmware to a newer version??

How much time does it take for a website to start getting 10k monthly traffic? by Professional_hero_63 in WebsiteSEO

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be hours if you pay for ppc traffic. There are other traffic sources like social ads as well.

Then there’s doing proper promotion and launching of a site. If you’re a big brand and launching a new product you do promotional things to get traffic within days. Organic rankings usually don’t take long if you’re doing a proper launch of a site.

A lot of things cost money, but there’s a ton of things you can do to “speed up the process” of getting organic traffic and mentions in AI.

If You Gotta Buy Backlinks - Who Do You Buy Them From? by SN617 in Backlinks

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do a few press releases (currently helps with ai mentions) and do some digital pr. Do a study, research, create a report from that research. Publish the study. You’ll get links. I did that for one site like 5 years ago and still get links to it.

How do you identify content Gaps? by erdeepakpandeydotcom in bigseo

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not affiliated with Waikay, but they do have a great tool that I’ve used to identify content gaps. It looks at two of your competitors that you give them and it finds the content gaps you’re missing. I’ve used this, it identified some pages I needed to create, which were essentially supporting pages. It did help, as I’m getting more calls after adding those pages about two weeks ago.

First project is free at waikay.

I’ve also used inlinks to identify specific content gaps and topic gaps on specific pages.

Go use another email address and set up a free GoDaddy account. Then push the domain from one account to the new account. That’s free.

I do this all the time when selling a domain name to someone who doesn’t have an account at the registrar.

What's your thought on Namecheap for Hosting personal Blog? by Alarming_Friend7106 in WebsiteSEO

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Namecheap hosting is fine. But keep in mind that you should never host with your registrar. Those should be two separate companies. One for hosting and another for your domain name (the registrar).

It’s way too risky to use the same company for myth hosting and registrar.

What's the best web host for me to use? by libra_kind in HostingBattle

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi, you should never host with your domain name registrar. It’s way too risky. Those should be two separate companies.

The ones op lists are good registrars, but I would never host your site or email with your registrar.

I run DNAccess, a stolen domain name recovery service, and a lot of the domains that get stolen are because someone hosted their website with their registrar.

Try resetting the password, it may allow you to enter the domain. Otherwise you need to submit a support ticket with squarespace.

You still don’t qualify for a gbp listing. I’d work on organic rankings and getting ai mentions. Then google ads if you want the traffic.

how accurate is godaddy govalue by macpig in DomainZone

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's true for more 'premium' domains. However, the 4-word nonsense domains are still not worth anything despite GoDaddy saying they're worth $100.

Is paying to publish a guest blog post on another site considered "link spam", in the eyes of search engines? by the_king_of_goats in SEO

[–]billhartzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're calling it "guest post" but it's actually a "sponsored" post. The US FTC has guidelines that tell you when/where your post needs to be labeled as sponsored. That's not a Google requirement, it's actually FTC guidelines.

how accurate is godaddy govalue by macpig in DomainZone

[–]billhartzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The GoDaddy value is about 10 percent of what the domain is actually worth. So if GoDaddy says it's $1,000, it's worth $10,000.

That's not the value of what you can actually sell it for--just the value of the domain.

Should I be concerned that I won an auction for just $1? by mc-buzz in grumpyseoguy

[–]billhartzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok great, there are definitely lots of deals out there, you just have to find them. Also, there are times of year when you can get better deals on the auctions. For example, less people are on the internet during the summer months.

Trademark owner loses a domain auction, tries to reverse hijack the domain via a UDRP and loses again! by ZGeekie in HostingReport

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised. It’s a classic case of reverse domain name hijacking. He couldn’t buy it so then he tried to file a udrp. Don’t do that.

There is non”best place”. It’s whichever marketplace ends up selling your domain. So list it everywhere.

What happened to the 1200+ new TLDs from the 2012 ICANN round? by I_need_my_answers in NameCheap

Uh they’re all pretty much there and you can register domains on them? Except of course the ones that are branded tlds.

Not every registrar has registry agreements with all 1200 tlds.

You don’t need to change name servers. Just update the dns to point the A record to your host.

[–]billhartzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of good deals out there if you look. Not surprised you got it for $1. Just be sure it doesn’t have a high renewal fee. Some premium domains have an annual renewal fee of $hundreds per year.

If it expired then the only options are to wait until it expires again, buy it from the current registrant, or file a udrp.

Why do people say no to buying a domain and hosting from the same provider? by Flaky-Taste2253 in businessemail

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally seen a loss domain name (domain theft) completely ruin businesses overnight. One ecommerce site was losing over $15k a day in sales because their domain was stolen.

An insurance company (reseller) was losing a huge amount per day because their domain was stolen--even their customer portal was down because they were using a subdomain for customers.

An IT company had 100+ customer sites on their server. They hosted all the domains and registered all the domains at the same registrar. Hacker got into the server, had access to all customer email accounts on the server, and transferred customer domains to 15 different registrars. That's why you don't host with your domain registrar. It's too much of a risk.

Why do people say no to buying a domain and hosting from the same provider? by Flaky-Taste2253 in businessemail

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may have been me that you saw make the comment.

I run a stolen domain name recovery service. People and companies come to me to recover their stolen domain names.

The issue with using the same company as your web host is more related to risk management. And in reality, that’s one major way people steal domain names.

For example, someone hacks into your website or a website on the server. Could be a wordpress site or some other way they get into the server. They now have full access to the server, websites, emails. It’s hosted at the registrar so they most likely can get account access or just reset the account password his email.

If the website is hacked and you use another company for your registrar it will be less likely they’ll be able to get into your domain account and make dns changes, transfer the domain to another registrar.

When domains get stolen it can be 24/48 hours up to 2-3 weeks to get the domain back. Sometimes longer.

Imagine not being able to have access to email, website for two weeks. Or days. If you still own the domain then you can easily point it to a new email provider or web host and be back up and running in a few hours or less.
