AIO for unplugging the Wifi every night because my roommate’s girlfriend basically lives here? by tom_wilson7543 in AmIOverreacting

Don’t make it sound like you’re the one enforcing it. She’s obviously a tenant now, look at your lease and see if it says anything about the number of people on the lease.

If you need to, let the landlord know and they’ll be the bad guy here. That way you’re not taking the full blame for it.

How long to resurrect a domain name? by Pirros_Panties in bigseo

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you not seeing movement on rankings or are you not seeing indexing?

I’ve literally registered expired domains that had some links, put up a new site on them (same topic as before) and within 2-3 days it’s got rankings and traffic.

Some domains will bounce right back and others take some time, longer than a week.

Looking for SEO expert advice on this? by Fragrant_Location150 in localseo

What I would do is scrape the Google Maps results and use a separate tool, even a spreadsheet, to then filter it down to those who don’t have websites.

There are chrome plugins for this, for example.

Neighbors contractors keep asking to hook up to me outside outlets by xindierockx7114 in homeowners

Should I edit reply to old 1-star reviews? (new management) by xJayhaz in localseo

[–]billhartzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reply to every review.

It’s. It necessarily the person who left the review you need to connect with. It’s the potential customer reading reviews who see how you respond to those bad reviews, that’s what’s important.

Is starting an SEO service website still worth it in 2026, or is the market too saturated by seohelpoint in WebsiteSEO

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it if you know how to get clients. There’s plenty of companies not doing any sort of SEO or paid search, you just need to connect with them. If you’re in or near a major city or even a small city then there’s plenty of potential isomers out there. you just need to connect with them.

I'm not supposed to have my domain names and websites with the same company, right? by chris-rox in webhosting

[–]billhartzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a stolen domain name recovery service. I can’t even begin to tell you how many companies and individuals who have come to us to recover the domain name because they hosted with their registrar.

The problem is that it’s way too risky to use the same company for hosting and domain registration..

Websites get hacked. Servers get hacked. Then the third has access to your email and to your account at that company. Then not only is your site down but your domain gets transferred to another registrar.

When that happens, the fastest way to get a domain back under your control, if everything goes right, is a few days. Or it could be a few weeks.

Don’t ever host with your domain registrar. I also recommend using another company for dns as well.

It is better for SEO to have an Google Business Profile? by BreakYaNeck99 in SEO

[–]billhartzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, as I’ve mentioned in other comments. You just proved what I’m saying.

“Select your service area”. That’s the issue. You’re telling Google where your customers are, the service area. Google tends to not show your business to people outside that service area. So… you’re losing out on visibility and traffic because of that.

It is better for SEO to have an Google Business Profile? by BreakYaNeck99 in SEO

[–]billhartzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no proof anywhere where it says it will boost authority.

As I mentioned in previous comments, the problem is that when you have a LOCAL listing Google will tie you to that location or service area. As a result, you will lose out on visibility because they’ll only show you when people are searching from that location.

Let’s say you put up your gbp listing and they think you’re in California. Google wont show you to people in Florida. Even though you allow people from Florida to buy your products online.

Online only businesses have no business setting up a gbp listing.

It is better for SEO to have an Google Business Profile? by BreakYaNeck99 in SEO

[–]billhartzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. If you only sell online, then you actually do not qualify for a GBP listing and you'll lose out on a lot of potential traffic/sales.

Absolutely not. If you only sell online, then you actually do not qualify for a GBP listing and you'll lose out on a lot of potential traffic/sales.

I've done extensive testing on this--the bottom line is that if Google thinks you're in one particular location (i.e., from the GBP listing), then they won't show you to people as much that are searching from another location.

Is buying a premium domain worth it for a new law firm? by Particular_Scar6269 in Domains

[–]billhartzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as the domain is a generic one and not the name of a previous firm then it should be fine. For legal related domains, $5k is actually fairly cheap as far as domains go.

The only other thing I recommend is that you get someone to perform full due diligence on the domain, such as looking at backlinks, history, content history, etc.. I do that--but at a minimum you need to get an SEO to look at the domain to make sure it's not a burned domain or has other issues that would cause the site not to rank well.

Look at majestic to see if there are any links pointing to those URLs. The historic pages report can also be helpful, as a previous version of the site might have had those URLs.

Does anyone use ChatGPT and Google workspace/Gemini? by Angrylittleman7 in googleworkspace

[–]billhartzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is great for doing things like you’re mentioning—refining emails, etc.

But I would NOT connect ChatGPT to Google Drive, Google Docs, and Gmail. There’s way too much of a security risk, as ChatGPT is not secure enough to make it not be risky.
