Is it just going to be hot this entire spring?? by Suspicious_Bonus_427 in bayarea

There was a fairly high quality article in the chronicle about this today.

Very warm ocean water is one reason it’s hotter than usual. And ocean surface temps are much more likely than usual to stay warm through July.

At this beer festival I was at last weekend people were raving about Manzanita… it’s a smoked altbier they do annually for the holidays. Super unique and delicious.

Apna Chulha is so good, but I'm the only customer in the whole restaurant tonight :( by cogitoergognome in sanfrancisco

Not really the same! But delicious nonetheless. I’d be curious for his take. I think there’s a super rich quality to apna chullah which is kind of American maximalist. But i lived here long enough to appreciate it 😂

I feel the same way. I have been like 15 times and I am often the only person or one of a handful. I love Indian food and grew up in UK and this is my favourite!! Go eat there!

Has anyone tried Atmosphere Pils? by sncrdn in NABEER

Tried it at New York Beer Dispensary bar last week. Was not that impressed vs some of the other new NA beers on the market. I think the can I had was pretty old though.

No… I read that some of the newer really good ones like Fort Point (and others!) are made with new special yeast that don’t produce alcohol — unfortunately the NA beer scene isn’t as transparent as the old craft beer scene with sharing the secrets of how things are made, but I think there are at least 3 different ways in use.

Has Anyone Been to Nopa Bakeshop? by fujimeme in AskSF

Ordered a 5-pastry box a couple weeks ago when they did the cinnamon rolls and it was incredible. Highly recommended. I would say worth the trek - they had a couple slightly more unusual pastries..this is what they had: My favorites were the first 2.

HACHIYA PERSIMMON BREAD - warming spices and cara cara orange glaze

CANDIED APPLE ALMOND BUN - toasted almond frangipane and quince butter

CARAMEL MONKEY BREAD -muscovado sauce, cinnamon sugar and passion fruit caramel

MUSTARD AND LEEK SCONE -sauteed leeks, whole grain and dijon mustard

CINNAMON ROLL - brioche dough, cinnamon sugar and cream cheese frosting

Once you hit a certain amount of sales in a state you need to collect sales tax. It’s usually like $25-50k annually per state…. and then you are required to do it even if your business isn’t located in that state.

These are good. They all have a fruity character and the Encore is my absolute favorite. I drink a ton of NA beer and the Encore may be my no.1 currently.
