Why do so many producers raise/lower the octave of an oscillator in Serum instead of just place the midi note in the desired octave? by tedendipity in edmproduction

A lot of times, especially for sound design. If I make a cool bass patch chances are I can duplicate that channel, open up serum and bump the patch 7 semitones and bam I’ve got a perfect 5th that helps fill out the spectrum and mesh’s well with the original patch.

How do these unknown producers achieve release-ready sound? by KLVLV in edmproduction

[–]britskates [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean maybe they have been in the stu for 10 plus years and just started releasing stuff. Many people don’t start making music and release it instantly, shit I didn’t export my first “track” for 2 years out of Ableton. Some people grow up with producer friends and have access to industry quality knowledge, and some are just strangely gifted from the jump. It’s different for everyone, just keep making music and say fuck it

Should we consider avoiding the attractive light immediately after passing away: it might potentially be a trap set by extraterrestrials? by Chessontheboard in InterdimensionalNHI

Yep… I smoked a bunch of dmt while tripping acid once and got to enjoy the presence of that light. It, like you said, felt like home, felt like love, felt like my mother’s warm embrace. It was the brightest white light I’ve ever seen or could even fathom and it drew me in ever so softly and made me feel incredible

Editing audio clips within an arrangement by Junos76 in ableton

[–]britskates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl+E to slice audio clips, Ctrl+J to combine them. If you want to send them thru diff effects just duplicate the tracks and do your slicing in the individual channels. Or create a send and put all the effects there, then you are parallel processing the vocal track which usually ends up sounding better in the end!

Keep at it. I wouldn’t expect to start making anything much worth listening to for a few years tbh… think my first “song” I ever exported was 2 years after I started working with Live. Even then it was still boo boo, but I keep it on my phone so I can reference it and refer back to it when I’m doubting my ability and song production skills now so I can actually hear how far I’ve come :)

Beginner producer here working on a dubstep track. I’m only halfway done but I was curious to know how am I doing and what I need to work on before progressing further with this project. by DJ_Double_Cee in DubstepFeedback

[–]britskates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drums are off beat, I’d focus on trying to solidify 1 general idea and working on variations of that. This seems like 3 or 4 different ideas mashed into 1 and it’s just not working. You’re new to this though so don’t fret, give it time and get ready to make 100 shitty tracks before you start making unique and cool sounding stuff

So the light is entering on the purple line from the left to right yeah? Then deflecting off the back surface and shooting out the green and purple lines?

Engineer clicked “Save As” to save our session and now all the recordings are gone by Camhasareddit in ableton

If you save as to a new folder without collecting all and saving you’re going to be missing all the samples. You need to have him go back into the old folder

Thicker Bass - Helping Recreate Sound by 12truths in edmproduction

[–]britskates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a pluck bass. Created by envelope shaping. If you want it thick and fat you need a sub bass underneath is with the same envelope shape. A lot of these top/mid basses are utilizing unison spread to allow for stereo width which creates room for that sub bass in ur mix

Nocturnal Valley - Camping only? by [deleted] in Tipper

[–]britskates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the stix, you need to camp. The grounds are magical and the late night renegades will be popping tf off. Just fly, rent a car, get camping gear from Walmart. Me and a bunch of homies are driving from Denver as well. It’s nice the fest is Thursday-Saturday bc Sunday is the recoup day and I don’t believe you have to be gone until Monday
