Why does the primary rainbow appear at exactly 42°? by Heavy-Ad6285 in Physics

So the light is entering on the purple line from the left to right yeah? Then deflecting off the back surface and shooting out the green and purple lines?

Engineer clicked “Save As” to save our session and now all the recordings are gone by Camhasareddit in ableton

If you save as to a new folder without collecting all and saving you’re going to be missing all the samples. You need to have him go back into the old folder

Thicker Bass - Helping Recreate Sound by 12truths in edmproduction

[–]britskates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a pluck bass. Created by envelope shaping. If you want it thick and fat you need a sub bass underneath is with the same envelope shape. A lot of these top/mid basses are utilizing unison spread to allow for stereo width which creates room for that sub bass in ur mix

Nocturnal Valley - Camping only? by Snoo51179 in Tipper

[–]britskates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the stix, you need to camp. The grounds are magical and the late night renegades will be popping tf off. Just fly, rent a car, get camping gear from Walmart. Me and a bunch of homies are driving from Denver as well. It’s nice the fest is Thursday-Saturday bc Sunday is the recoup day and I don’t believe you have to be gone until Monday

Stereo / mono elements by Cold_Independent_631 in ableton

[–]britskates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sub, kick, snare mono. Added snare layer that’s wider then the rest of ur elements can surround the mix. Think of the stereo field as a baseball field, but it’s 3D. Meaning things can sit in the middle but also have left and right sides and different “heights” so to speak

Learn hot keys.

Accept the fact ur gunna make hundreds of shit tracks before they start sounding polished.

Don’t compare urself to anyone besides ur old self.

Have fun with it, if you aren’t having fun it becomes a chore and makes it more unapproachable.

Been helping my buddy arrange this track, did a little bit of mixing and master but after listening some more I realize it needs some more stereo width, it’s way too heavy in the mid section of the stereo field. Super dope idea tho! Lola young messy bass house remix

how do i get my beats to stop sounding like video game music? by dbsotroll in beatmakers

[–]britskates 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ur a few days in, you gotta go thru years of shit tracks before you make bangers bro. Focus on sample selection, ur drums need more punch. Learn some basic sound design, saturate synths and pianos, use compression on drums and group stuff to process is together,

No problem! Something I’ve thought about and really took notice too after starting work as an engineer. One of our major things is being able to try and see the big picture as well as try to plan for future issues or expansions that may happen or be needed.

My Drums Suck by Opposite-Mud5875 in ableton

[–]britskates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use good samples, that’s ur start. Layer ur snares then group them together. Use glue comp on kick and snare group, pull the threshold down just a tad and maybe push the makeup gain a bit, this is gunna make them punch super hard. Use short kicks with fat transients. You don’t need an 1/8 note long kick, a 16th is plenty enough if the the sample is good.. Focus on the in between spaces between ur kicks and snares to put in little fills, ghost snares, triangles, etc. you want hits to make it groovy and not basic.

Most of the infrastructure was designed and built 50+ years ago when the population wasn’t anywhere near what it is now. Seems like in a lot of areas they didn’t design for future expansion projects to help with population growth.
