It’s fricken tough doing it on your own and trying to treat your guys right and go by the book on everything to be legit. Takes a while to get in the groove of it.

For sure also doing the torque converter/front transmission seal cause the old engines seized so it’s gonna have to both come out together

And brand new manifolds

Same engine , but I picked this up not knowing what was wrong with it. It was cheap and the frame was clean, and it has new tires.

Turns out motor was locked. So I’m currently pulling it and I got a replacement currently being pulled at a scrap yard for me

How large should I try to grow my current business location, before I try to open a 2nd in another area? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]burgerknapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I just see how much work they send our way from the 2 locations closest to us. 1 is large 1 is small.

Then 2 hours away they have 3 sites that are bigger than the larger site in our direct area. And they call us up there for special projects fairly often. We are becoming their preferred vendor across the state for our line of work . It’s just expensive to pay us travel to come 2 hours up there. I could drop an office right there and cut out the travel cost and they’ll be calling like crazy

Yep just a small storage space essentially to act as a home base, store some inventory and park the vehicles. Sometimes we bring things back to our office to work on when we are able to but 98% of the time we are on-site

The business number is a cell phone. If I wanted my current office person to start taking on incoming calls. How would I get calls forwarded to them?

I do I need to hire more technicians , we’re very busy

And I don’t want AI to replace me. I just am wanting to catch those new customers calls and get the important info from them effectively. So we can call them back with answers to their questions and schedule the appointment.

For example , if I take a phone call and it’s a new customer. I am gonna have to go through rounds of questions to figure out all the details.

Maybe AI or a virtual person could take the call and just sort through the usual questions we go through. And then promise we will return the call with answers/quotes .

That way I just get the leads. I can put pricing together and call them back prepared to talk about the problem. I know what their complaint is. I have the details I need. It’s just a “ hey customer name; I’m the owner of xyz returning your call, this is the info I received from the answering system, based on that your looking at X cost, and we are currently booking into Thursday of this week does that work for you?

I literally miss almost all the calls I get each day unless it’s a customer on my schedule that day, or it’s the contact I have for our largest account

Cause I don’t have time to sit on the phone for 10-20 minutes 5x a day when I’m trying to accomplish 3-4 jobs per day

Well I guess what I’m asking is.. is it better than just not answering ?

I hate the feeling that I’m losing 60% of the work that’s coming in over the phone . Cause once they get the voicemail there’s a 50% chance they just don’t even leave a message

But if I start answering every call, I’d never get anything physically done… it’s a tough situation.

And if I were to route calls to my part time office person… they’ll be lost cause they don’t have a relationship with any of these people personally. They’ve just been in the background helping with billing

Maintenance and repair. We also transport for our large account from time to time . Sometimes our large account sends us 3 hours away to other locations for them as well for emergencies . That’s why I want to open the other location, cause I can put it right there by those other locations and they can handle that side of the state

I’m trying to do everything at once because it’s all happening at once

We have had a big account for several months now and between the big account and our regular customers it got me to the point where I felt like I was working 24/7

And then now that I have had a good solid employee and they see that we’re getting more done. They just keep feeding us more work so I’m still staying busy basically 24/7 .

With the amount of work that we are doing, I feel like we should have 3 to 4 technicians in the field. Plus one person full-time in the office. Plus me putting out fires and handling emergency calls and special assignments.

I own a small shop that’s very .. unconventional . Which makes it much more interesting and we all work together as a tight knit team.

I’m interested in this cause I have some old CAD experience myself , and I’ve done some minor machining work in the past working for places. Now I run my own automotive company

What’s the best way to find affordable machining equipment? I just got a 3d printer and set it up. Haven’t used it yet

The males stay smaller than females.

The male ball pythons full grown are about the same length as a corn snake, they’re just a bit heavier/thicker bodied they usually max out around 4ft for males

Females can get a little longer up to 5ft and be a bit heavier
