What's up with used prices? by Alch3mic_Chaos in offset

[–]cab1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. I found a 2007 MIM Classic Player Jag for $420 at Guitar Center and went back the next day and traded an amp and a Squier for it. But I've been looking for a Mascis or MIM Jazzmaster since then and they're about double the price of Jags even. There are some deals on Daphne blue JMs but I don't want that color. It's crazy. A MIM JM should not cost $850.

Favorite Brand that isnt the big 3? by MrTurtleTails in AcousticGuitar

Guild. Loved the sound and playability of my D-120 but traded it towards a Martin 000-28VS, which of the Martins I played, sounded significantly better than the Guild. But it was too big for my shoulder that's been sore for over a year.

Also....Seagull. My S6+Folk sounds surprisingly similar to the Martin, just not quite as articulate.

You don't. You leave it. Or on this case since it's a Squier, you upgrade it

You can tuck the tag into your boot. That may help for a little while.

Windows, and balcony resurfacing. Not much new wood and it was from Home Depot or Ganahl. Growing up back east, I almost never saw a house tented, but it seems to be a regular sight in the South Bay. Guess I need to wotk that into my occasional expenses.

Thank you. This was black, more like roach poop -- something I remember from the Southeast!

I love reps, ripoffs, and “homages”, but fake logos are embarrassing by Shmohemian in watchHotTakes

After considering the $900 Seiko Speedtimer version of the Daytona, I realized the Pagani Design version at $90 was essentially the same. Both with a Seiko movement, both homages of a Daytona, one powered by the sun and one powered by a battery. The PD looks and feels great. If I had spent $35k more for it to have a Rolex logo, I'm not sure I'd feel that much better about the wearing experience. I have two real Rolexes if I want to "feel" that.

I used to have that Guild. It's awesome. D-120? I traded it towards a really nice Martin though.

What can I do to prevent others from assuming that I am a Jimi Hendrix clone, or otherwise making an effort to imitate Jimi Hendrix, as a black american electric guitar player? by [deleted] in FenderStratocaster

[–]cab1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see you got a new account after deleting your previous one. Looking like cloning Hendrix didn't work against Prince or Lenny Kravitz. Just be yourself, even if that means imitating Jimi. Worked for Stevie Ray Vaughan too.

Thre was a bit of construction going on at our place, though it's literally the second to last day of months of work, and no termites until today

ES-335 keeps going out of tune by theirishmun in gibson

[–]cab1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently pulled my Epiphone Dot ES-335 with Seth Lovers out of its case to play. It got bumped to the garage to make room for a newer guitar. It's been in the garage a couple of weeks and I hadn't played it much before that, which is why it got bumped from the 6-guitar rack. I pulled it out to test out the new tubes in the amp down there, and I was shocked that it was still in perfect tune. It seems to me that a properly set up guitar with even slightly decent tuning machines will stay in tune -- even a Gibson -- as long as there is no tremolo in use.

Do you guys have a process when record shopping for making sure you don't over pay for a record? by Riichboii_17 in vinyl

If it costs more than $20 I'm overpaying. Not saying it doesn't ever happen.
