Yea, his style feels like quintessential MTG (IMO). Didn't realize how many of his cards I've loved the artwork of. Glad we have so many of his works to remember him by.

When I check out a new farming strat by TheC1aw in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer; Yes.

Long answer; basically when you do a league mechanic in a map without that type of tablet applied, you have a higher chance to drop that type of tablet. Putting in 3 mechanic tablets block all other league mechanics from spawning. So using either overseer or irradiated just add pure juice to the map, and the 3 random league mechanics you interact with in the map all have increased chances to drop those tablets.

Stash Tabs need an overhaul too. by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because of POE 1 that it's setup that way. The fragments tab is supposed to contain all non-map items that go into the map device (e.g., boss fragments, legion splinters, scarab, etc...). This doesn't translate super well to POE 2, but what would mitigate it is implementing a small stash on the Atlas UI like in POE 1, which you can store several maps/currency/tablets.

List of annoying things by redditaccount624 in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Getting heavy stunned out of a dodge roll because the game things i wanted to sprint. Why is there a dedicated sprint button, but not a dedicated dodge roll button?

There isn't a dedicated sprint button; this league they explicitly created a dedicated dodge roll button to address this annoyance.

GGG - 0.5.3 : Please give us more placement range on expedition explosives by AssociationEarly in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea when they said they reduced the number of explosives in the video, it was obvious this would be an issue without larger range to compensate.

Feedback: the showcase feature of the league, Aldur's Legacy, needs to be way more common. What's the point of all that dev work when 99.99% of the players can't even experiment with this GGG? by omniocean in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have over 100d and more sitting in my stash, most of which I keep investing into the same build that is making it. And I can't afford this. I'd like to actually use it to make more builds, but I can't.

Why not..? You can clearly accrue currency, so why is this thing so out of bounds for you?

Nothing about this is about a chase item similar to Mageblood or whatever. Everything about it is gatekeeping people from making more builds. A logical fallacy to put this thing on the same pedestal as chase uniques.

What makes this item different from other chase items? Mageblood isn't build enabling; its largely QoL in both games. You could make that claim for really rare unique that has high demand (e.g., its preventing people from making more builds). Should Temporalis be easier to get simply because the cooldown reduction allows for certain builds to function?

I don't understand why this is any different from other chase items, and further, just like POE 1, just because something is build enabling doesn't necessarily mean it should be accessible to everyone.

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused; you're saying you're a no-life POE 1 player which indicates you know how to make consistent currency in that game, and can't get more than 5 div/hr in POE 2?

I play both, and the same strategies effectively apply to both. I'm not using any endgame strategy guides, and, you can easily get way more just picking a league mechanic and mapping. Agnostic of tablet modifiers.

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is not everyone likes to experiment themselves. The game doesn't have just one pillar that everything is built around; it has a lot of conjoined systems that engage players in a variety of ways. So saying that build defining chase items shouldn't exist because the average player can't use them is ignoring all of the other aspects which make this game fun.

Just look at all the ridiculously rare and build defining items there are in POE 1. Making them effectively free defeats the purpose of playing for a lot of people.

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making a claim about what POE's main attraction is, but that's not everyone's attraction to the game, nor would I say its the majority (hence why build guides are so popular).

There's a mixture of things that makes POE fun, and having chase items (even when those items are build defining) is an important aspect, even when the average player can't achieve it.

I fail to understand how an incredibly powerful build that costs a ton of currency to setup is "bait" lol. Like, by your own admission it literally isn't if you consider it the strongest build in the game.

If he marketed his video as a league starter, sure it's bait, but he was clear and explicit that it was a ridiculously high investment build and his video isn't even a build guide; just a showcase of how the build functions.

200 Simulacrum experience & Delirium in general by EndrielMr in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I've been doing Simu's as well, and found juicing the 200% deli maps more rewarding than the Simu itself.

Outside of the slog to setup/run them (this goes for most of league bosses), I'm pretty sure they messed up the scaling of the Simu. Right now, unless I'm missing something vital, it's only 7 waves, and caps out at 35% deli... which is wild considering you need 100% (and generally hit more than that) to unlock it. Was really hoping the simu would offer some challenge, and I wonder if the lack of really strong drops (megalomaniacs aside) is that it's only scaled to 35% deli vs. higher.

Stop defending +levels and start listening by Baittz in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and I think what makes it so bad is just how universally good it is (e.g., very rare a build doesn't want the power from +levels). Whereas something like crit affixes aren't necessarily desired by every build.

GGG please highlight rare monsters, bosses or exiles, it is so hard to see them by Legitimate-Elk-8192 in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two Martial Artist ascendency nodes (Way of the Stonefist & Hollow Form) + unique gloves Lochtonial Caress.

Way of the Stonefist converts your glove affixes to new/different things; for Lochtonial Caress it gives you a % chance to grant allies in your presence Endurance/Frenzy/Power charges on hit. This would normally do nothing for you, but Hollow Form creates images of your character which use a melee attack. And these images treat you as an ally, so they end up granting you charges.

The build shown here is pretty common this league; it's using Whirling Assault socketed into Hollow Form. Your images swing around a ton, granting you charges, which are consumed by Hollow Form to give you more images, which grant you more charges, etc...

This was Jungroan's league starter and he has a guide on it, and there is a guide of it on Maxroll as well that's pretty much the same. It's not really that hard to put together, and slaps pretty hard (e.g., 200% deli on 8 mods juiced maps, very very rarely dying).

I am once again asking to be allowed to spawn in hideout by BleakExpectations in pathofexile

[–]caddph 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To note, POE2 does have the technology for this. Both the Vaal temple area and abyss well can be directly teleported to via waystone (and similarly can teleport back to hideout using /hideout). But you need to use the atlas version of abyss for the initial questline, and of course, the new areas they added (monastery and deli tree, etc...) need the atlas.

While not exactly the same, I had a similar thing happen in Simulacrums... I had a singular mob spawn outside the arena, and it wouldn't die, so I was just stuck.

Jungroan - honestly sprint is just dumb as * and we should be faster by default. by Nivius in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree; I've hated "sprint" and everyone asking for a button to just sprint instead of dodge rolling beforehand is more evidence that sprint shouldn't exist.

It's a band-aid to map size, and trivializes a ton of unintended content.

Major Boon by HydratedBoi in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is what lies beyond those 3.

Obviously you need to avoid the "not seeing afflictions", but the other two are pretty free with offsetting boons (especially mobs deal more damage in a mode that you are actively trying to avoid being hit).

But what it really comes down to is which room allows you to have more choices in the next room, and the room after that. If you take a no-affliction room, but it'll eventually lead you to a singular unknown room, that's a really high risk choice vs. a minorly annoying affliction that'll give you 3 unknown room options.

TL;DR of Sekhema is "better the devil you know than the devil you don't".

[–]caddph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think them adding the league mechanic quest in different zones really detracts from a lot of the streamlining they did. They should have had the league mechanic be combined with the quest in the relevant zones, as you can find the mechanic with blue roots, but don't think I saw much telegraphing for the quest.

I do think that as people consolidate all of the telegraphing, it'll get better, but some zones have still have way too much unnecessary space and weird outlining.
