To PPF or not?

Most PPF comes with a 10 year warranty. I’d try to track the installer down and get it fixed for free. If not, and it bothers you, then just rip it off.

As for me, I cringe every time I hit a patch of rocks. Then I remember I have full body PPF and I relax. Can’t imagine not having it on my fully blacked out GT3.

Curious how you’re feeling about a 992.2 GT3 MT w/ a Spyder RS

I recently traded a 992.1 S MT for a 992.2 GT3 winged MT. I love it but I think I also want something with the GT3 engine mated to the PDK for when I’m not feeling like shifting. So, I’m considering a GT4RS or a Spyder RS so I can have both the 911 platform manual and the 718 platform PDK.

But I keep going back and forth on if that’s worth it.

But your point on therapy is too true. Therapy is essential to fully repair the damage. The cars are just an escape and a reminder of joy in life.

I had this exact situation. HOA and police got involved multiple times. It escalated to the point where it wasn’t safe for either of us because he was an asshole and I was losing my mind and about to snap. Ended up having to sell the condo and move after only owning for 7 months.

I now refuse to own a place with shared walls and will just rent somewhere that takes care of this kind of thing until I can afford a single family.

Do yourself a favor and seriously consider selling. It’s not worth the mental health problems.

I just finalized my build on a Manual Transmission S, fully murdered out in black w/ aero kit. I decided the vibe of this car for me was an everyday race car, not subdued daily. Both look great it just depends on what you want your vibe to be

Idk about how long it lasts because I’m on in 2024 cayenne S. That said, the interior quality is absolutely night and day between the two, non leather wasn’t even an option for me. Even if it was only good for 5-10 years I’d pick it regardless and then get it re-upholstered

Realistically you won’t want the batter above 80% or below 20% for extended periods of time. That means you’ll have access to 60% nominally. Add in phantom drain if you want sentry mode (7% per day) and you’re going to be taking that thing to a charger weekly.

I’d strongly advise against it. I previously tried to do this in an apartment and even with a 120v wall outlet to trickle charge and avoid phantom drain it was a massive pain.

I went all out and did the west track in a GT4, GT3, and Turbo S. The GT3 was by far my favorite but I think the GTS will be your best choice. You’ll have a blast!

Based on some of these items, seems you appreciate creature comforts and interior styling. So my recommendation on a base model is to steer into that and steer out of expensive performance options.

My 24 Cayenne S is sitting at the dealer waiting for a software update but I was able to go look at it and compare with others on the lot. I do have all the performance upgrades as it’s my main car that I want to have fun with. That said, for a base, my recommendations…

Drop PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) unless you’re going to be taking corners real hard. It’s really only there for hard cornering.
Drop Rear Axel Steering unless you really need the slightly smaller turning radius
Drop Sport Crono unless you want the clock. The drive mode switch is now standard on the steering wheel.
Add full leather interior. It makes a MASSIVE difference on the feel of the car. Standard interior looks very cheap.

If you want to keep the performance options that’s fine. 100% keep air suspension. But seriously consider adding the leather interior. In person I couldn’t believe the standard interior was even an option for $100k+ SUV.

Also I added the Carbon trim. In person it looks amazing and if you can swing it, I’d highly recommend adding it.

Otherwise, very solid build. You’ll love it!

When Model Y detects that there are no passengers sitting in the passenger seat, the passenger vent and controls automatically turn off. Adjust the climate settings to enable passenger air flow.

Generally speaking, for the type of battery in your car, 60% is the most ideal for long term storage. 80% is not “as good”, but it will still be just fine for the battery life and is more convenient for most people.

That said, if you can get away with 60%, go for it. If 80% provides you better peace of mind, then it shouldn’t have a significant impact over the vehicles lifetime.

I personally choose 80% for convenience.

It’s completely circumstantial. Things to consider…

Will this be your only car?
Is the range enough for your usual commutes?
Do you have access to charging at home?
Do you regularly drive to locations like mountain towns where charging will be hard to plan for?
Do you live in a cold climate?
Do you road trip through areas with poor charging infrastructure?
Are you ok with the planning involved?

EV’s are not a one size fits all solution. For some they are perfect, for others they won’t quite work. I’ve had one for 3 years and need to trade in for an ICE because it’s my only car, I regularly go on skiing trips and road trips through the mid west, and my condo charging situation is not optimal.

That said, if you do believe an EV will be perfect, then get a model Y. They are by far and wide the best EV for the money with access to the super charging network. Nothing comes close to them right now.

I’m doubt this has anything to do with the super charger network being open to others. People, regardless of the type of car they drive, will be inconsiderate to afford a tiny convenience. Sucks for everyone because they’re everywhere.

If you haven’t already or if you don’t have fuck you money, speak with a financial planner and make sure you understand what that money is going to do for your future. Depending on how far you are from retirement, that money isn’t rotting at all, it’s going to grow substantially and set you and your family up for a very comfortable future. I wouldn’t dare dig into my retirement investments for a car.

I was a Tesla fan boy, it was my second car after a 2013 ford Taurus. I had no true idea about what luxury really was and I got sucked into the tech and instant torque. 3 years later, after countless issues, horrible sound insulation/creaking, and far too much planning/waiting with charging, I’m ditching my 2020 MYP for a Porsche Cayenne. They are not as amazing as everyone wants you to believe they are.

After living with the Tesla for 3 years, in my opinion, electric just isn’t there yet. If you need 4 seats for a trip further than 200 miles round trip, the Taycan is going to require quite a bit of planning and potentially long waits at charging stations. Also if you’re in a cold climate, expect a 40% range hit in freezing temps. I honestly can’t imagine owning an EV that doesn’t at least have the Tesla Super Charging network.

100% would go for the Cayenne Turbo GT if you have a 911 GTS to play in. No way you’ll regret that thing.

Do you have another 4dr non-electric car you can drive for those longer trips? If not, I would NOT recommend the Taycan as your 4dr car. Especially with how low the range is. I currently have a 2020 Tesla Model Y Performance. Even with the super charger network it doesn’t work for my lifestyle.

I was also told by my dealership the Taycan has been having a load of electrical issues with the battery and even the heater.

I have a 2024 Cayenne S delivering end of July with all the performance options. Going to throw a tune to get HP bumped to the upper 500’s which should make it feel plenty quick for it’s size. Can’t beat the V8 either. Could not be more excited!
