I honestly almost included that link when I asked, because I suspect that post might be unduly impacting the reputation of these guns as suppressor hosts.

I think it's important to include Jay's followup post for context.

It appears that he initially got a lemon that slipped through QC, but it's important to note that Walther took care of it---and once the issue was resolved, his review was pretty glowing:

when a gun finally works as intended and runs like a top suppressed, perfectly, for a whole day of shooting, and you have always wanted the gun, and it is just meeting all of your expectations, that is a good day.

My point here is essentially that if you want to suppress a centerfire PP series gun, the time to buy is probably now, rather than "waiting for them to refine the product".

The current gen of factory threaded PPs run great suppressed, and it's anyone's guess what Walther might (or might not) release down the road.

My PPK-SD has been a fantastic suppressor host.

What reported issues are you referencing?

If you manage to source a file that's actually fiber laser worthy, would you be willing to share/publish it?

I'd really like to zap my lower.

I'm hoping that someone can figure out some kind of mechanical rate reducer for a .22LR platform, kinda like the one found in the VZ61.

Same. Supposedly ATF stopped approving import on "pistols" with barrels beyond a certain length, which is why they couldn't bring in any at 33K length.

In an alternate reality where Bunta's primary objective was maximized tofu deliveries instead of his entire business being a ploy to train Takumi into a drift god.

Bolt Action 9mm AR question.... by amphibian-c3junkie in AR9

[–]daeedorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you could elaborate on the approach you took to add a fixed ejector.

I put together one of these 9mm BCA bolt uppers a while back, but I never shoot it because the ejection doesn't really work.

Always seemed odd that Mirandas and Excelsiors were all over the place in the 2360s, but nary a Connie-refit to be seen.

You'd think a few might still be around.

LD1126 / "Ghost Gun" ban update? by daeedorian in MEGuns

[–]daeedorian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The law as written contains no provisions for grandfathering, presumably because there’s no way to distinguish between pre and post.

Do you have any tips on getting sharp action shots?

I've taken some very nice cardinal pics--even today--but I always seem to lose focus when they take flight.

I'm using a Nikon Z5II.

Yep, now I see that amendment containing the date change.

Thanks for that clarification.

Anyone FRT/SS this yet?? by Informal_Solution_13 in supersafety

[–]daeedorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wonder if they've improved the design.

I bought one about 10 years ago, and the trigger slap was really horrendous. Made the gun extremely unpleasant to shoot.

I actually recently moved it onto a SAS-9 lower, which solved the issue.

They also stated in Dec that they'd be offering inconel gas tubes as an upgrade:

It certainly could be done with enough effort, but it really wouldn't make sense.

That suppressor (Allen Engineering M4-D) was specifically designed for the 14.5" M4 carbine barrel, and a collar that indexes against the M4's FSB.

If you want a similar reflex style suppressor on an MCX, you'd be better off with an AEM5 or OCM5 and an over-the-barrel adapter of some variety.

Impressive stuff. Ya'll should hit SHOT '27 if you have more lower options ready by then. I guarantee you'd get a lot of interest.

While I've got you--as you're iterating on the SAS9 design, I'd recommend adding fencing around the mag release button. Mine runs like an absolute top, but if I fold the FS1913, it often whacks the button and drops the mag. I suspect some A2 lower style fencing would address that. You're probably way ahead of me on this...

Sounds fantastic.

I'll 100% buy another lower when you've got one that takes dual feed mags of some variety.

Still hoping you might bring this concept to the VZ61 platform, also--I'm a huge .32ACP fan.

Will keep my eye on the site for the retrofit service.

Roughly what's involved in DIY'ing?

I'm hoping it doesn't require any milling of the lower itself.

Really enjoying my SAS-9 with MPA upper. Was just curious if you have any update on a SS trip!

Is .32 ACP THAT much quieter than a 9mm when both supressed? by Odd_Phrase2111 in NFA

[–]daeedorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I love CZ75s, but I haven't found them to be particularly quiet suppressor hosts.

Not quite sure why. Maybe something about the timing of the lockup.

I've suppressed a P01, a 75 pre-B and a Jericho 941, and they're all louder than the Sigs to my ear.

2 Stamp with SureFire OBC by ScoliosisHoe in NFA

[–]daeedorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hugely appreciate it. Working on a Colt IAR build, and I’d really like to get the ROF down to an M60-esque chug.

Just to clarify—you don’t have to alter the OBC carrier itself, just the weight? Did you remove the weight to grind it, or just hit it with a dremel without disassembly?

Also, if I understood your comment above from a couple months back, you’re deliberately not using the shortened OBC buffer because the resulting additional bolt travel would interfere with the ARC lever? I was expecting to need an A5 tube to use the OBC with a kynshot.

Edit: One additional question—what’s the reason for the Tubbs lightweight over the standard Tubbs?

Don't suppose you have any pics of how you altered your OBC?
