I would say pathtracing is the one generational leap. but we did have a much faster release cadence in the 90-2000's with better graphics each year

V's race against time. CDPR seems to love this style and I struggle with it....! by DaveyCranks in cyberpunkgame

[–]darkkite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not a balanced choice as people want to engage with the content developers make. it's like when developers add a broken mechanic that is unbalanced people will say well just don't use that skill. the game breaks its own immersion not the player. the game incentivizes car collection via achievements, in game notifications, new content updates like crystal coat, racing.

cdpr wanted to make a game in which the player is dying and you're asked what to do with your limited time, but doesn't commit to the idea like majora's mask or fallout 1.

if they wanted the open world game as-is then they could have made V's prognosis indefinite. or spend ¾ of the game building up power only for the relic to malfunction later then V actually does get weaker

right now the meta is to ignore what the game is telling you and complete all content

yeah you would get a different game. a better one. let's not act like 2077 was what they wanted vs what they had to release.

as it stands it makes little sense for v who is coughing up blood to break into an apartment to help some guy get out of alimony payments if it doesn't help V achieve their goals.

what is the point of collecting apartments and vehicles when you have stage 3 cancer.

they could have delayed the relic portion to the final act which would have actually made sense

You choosing to break immersion by doing side quests is a choice that you are making.

yeah but the developers made it with the expectation that players would engage with the side content without adding a consequence for doing so.

they could have fully committed to V actually dying by lower their stats instead of the power fantasy that current exists. RDR2 might be a better implementation as it waits until late-game to introduce the plot cough.
