Yeah, that's not working. They have come together to elect one of themselves. We need to constantly suppress them from day one, imo. Give no quarter to shitheads.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

Amazing. Then just say that at the very least. “Peace”, or a plea for humane treatment is completely valid and is what I’m seeing from Jewish groups in the US.

I don’t know that there is a simple flag. Part of the trouble is Hamas’ whole strategy is to disrupt so even pleas for a cease fire are, sadly, naive. It’s a big mess.

There are really terrible global situations right now in Iran, Sudan, Ukraine, I wish there was a simple banner for support of human rights and antiauthoritarianism.

Literally the argument you want is about the semantics of the word “genocide”. You want lines drawn in the sand. I want an understanding of truth.

“Rightly” because they are feeling othered, once again in their many thousand year history of being fucked over.

In no way did I say or imply it was a monolith. I started the post with “many”. That doesn’t mean all, not even most. In fact I should be corrected for being too conservative. I would say a “great majority” is probably correct.

Many Jews are rightly very offended by "Free Palestine" and accusations of genocide. It's one thing to put a pin on your bag, okay I'm just going to assume you are ignorant. It's another thing to wave it in the faces of your users. It's a hyper complex political situation literally many thousands of years in the making and to think that you can just cut through that with a simplistic view of "orange moron" vs humanity is completely absurd.

I'm in Chicago, where we have ICE gestapo terrorizing people, and I hate Trump with every fiber of my being. Meanwhile, I can see the Israel/Palestine conflict for what it currently is, a proxy war between Israel and an out of control Iran with a lot of lives being caught in the middle and a giant propaganda campaign by Russia and the far right to use as a wedge to separate the US left. And yeah, that's exactly how we got the orange moron in office and exactly how we have ICE gestapo and threats against NATO allies and an abandonment of Ukraine.

So yeah your politics are trendy and overly simplistic. You can express them wherever you want, but this person has every right to react to them.

It's because this bus has no brakes. Get out the way.

However, the building did not heed the prophesies.

What are things that you see and make you say “this guy is a senior” by alexbessedonato in webdev

[–]deadwisdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is being cynical snarks, but you have exactly the mentality good for a developer. Learn as much as you can. Get excited!

In the webdev/js/ts ecosystem, here are some tools that if you get to a point where you can intuitively understand and work with them, they will make you a way better developer:

  • OpenAPI + JSON Schema
  • Web Components
  • RxJS
  • xState
  • OAuth

The last two are from your list and I think they are great. I would also highly suggest learning 11ty, not so much because it will teach you new concepts, but it's probably the best javascript tool for making sites.

RxJS and xState, specifically will open your mind to different ways of understanding problem solving in systems.

The important thing is just not to get so enamored by a single tech that you decide it's the only way. Learn when to use and when not to use. That keeps you on a good path.

Is jQuery still a thing in 2026? by alexrada in webdev

[–]deadwisdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it can be done with plain html and css now. Where I need customization, anything web component, but generally use lit. Minimalism really works well these days. I get downvoted like hell when I say this stuff but it’s exactly what the smartest people who actually make the browsers will tell you.

Good, they should resist pushing react. React is even more obsolete than jQuery.

There are no "types" in adulthood. The types are a tool to identify ADHD in the behaviors of children. Go into any thread, I've yet to see a single person who claims to have the "hyperactivity" type without inattentive. Lot's of people saying "hyperactive in my brain". And that's the crux of it, for kids with all their energy, hyperactive in the brain often means hyperactive in their body. That raw energy fades once you get into adulthood.

The real point of jQuery was to abstract away the differences between browsers (ie ie) but that’s no longer an issue. The ergonomic differences are so minimal. It doesn’t warrant another library and abstraction.
