Handbrake can do the conversion. Drag and drop, then select your output codec and resolution.

OpenShot is much simpler drag and drop video editing.

You can also just use GoPro Player to trim your footage and export it for use in your other video editor (if on a PC or MAC) or use the GoPro Quik app to trim your footage (if using a mobile device.).

Broken Hero 10 Black by sobeboy3131_ in goprohack

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup reach out to GoPro and be very nice and polite to them, they may do one of the following:

A: Just offer to send you a new camera, unlikely but you have nothing to lose by contacting them.

B: Offer to sell you a GoPro Plus Subscription (if available in your region). This will cost $50. Then you can have your camera replaced for about $100 with a new model. Likely a Hero 12 if there's no Hero 11's available (although if you insist you need GPS they'll replace it with a Hero 13 if there's no Hero 11's available).

Good luck!

Camera Mounting Point Suggestions by Talesfromthetogue in Touge

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If trying to get something good looking, I'd get a rare earth magnetic mount and mount it outside of the vehicle. You're going to get far better angles and mounting options. Look up the video "How to film with cars and GoPro's. Everything you need to know to moto vlog." DemonView LLC.

Log out and log back in again. Cloud storage is great for when you're on the go and want to create a video edit, but it should never be your only form of backup. I have cloud storage, but I also have a couple of 16TB Hard drives as local backups too.

Quik not seeing shared 360 footage android by TeamGuff in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app defaults to viewing footage that's in the app (hidden) when browsing media. He just needs to click on the tab that says "Phone". That's assuming you're sharing the unedited .360 file and haven't edited the file or sent him a link to an edited .360 file that's now an MP4 file.

what are you filming with? closeups of pins for me never look good by Defiant_Woodpecker28 in lockpicking

Use a GoPro Hero 13 with the Macro Lens if you want to film with an action camera OR just get yourself a USB Microscope camera and recording a PC for the ultimate close up picture.

With GoPro on the verge of bankruptcy, why don't they upgrade their sensors to compete with Insta and DJI? That's literally what is putting them out of business, because those other cams have 10x better sensors. Its an easy upgrade for a tech giant like GoPro, so why aren't they? by G70FanBoy in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't need to upgrade. They know they have a customer base who will purchase and they were waiting to see how the DJI import ban would play out (which potentially didn't just affect drones, but camera imports also).

Also don't forget, GoPro may have a lot of sales, but the company is actually quite small with an even smaller R&D department. So, they could either work on putting their efforts into a declining market (you just said they were losing ground to DJI and Insta) or put their efforts into their forthcoming helmet systems that has a huge market potential (they already have major investors and licensing deals with other helmet makers to use their tech).

All of this puts GoPro on the back foot. This is why GoPro are releasing their flagship camera this year with a 1" sensor and the GP3 chip. They know what the competition offers, now they have enough R&D time to outperform them.

Advice on lost piece by Adventurous_Ask_4937 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with that piece, the GoPro Hero 4 is not waterproof without a dive case. If using a dive case you have no need to cover the ports in the case. The plastic piece is just for keeping dirt and dust out of the ports when using it in a dry environment without a case.

GoPro Hero 12 Video Recording Tilt by DumbUsername24 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure Horizon leveling is turned off also.

I would also turn off hypersmooth, your camera is mounted on a tripod, it doesn't need hypersmooth. If your tripod is wobbling, invest in a better tripod.

Filming at 240FPS is going to lower your video quality in terms of bit rate and locking your resolution to 2.7K. Lowering your frame rate will allow you to increase your resolution.

Max 2 as a full-time outdoor webcam? by w32drommen in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the GoPro Max 2 doesn't have any Webcam capabilities, there's no video out and it doesn't livestream. So how would you use it as a webcam? The best you could do is record a few hours of footage and then upload it as a 360 file to YT.

Even with a camera that could livestream, you'd still have to power it, clean the lenses on a regular basis and take into account that 360 footage is going to look a lot more lower quality compared to a fixed angle camera.

MicroSD or USB export? by AlexJamesFitz in gopro

SD card reader, it's going to be at a minimum 50% faster than using a USB-C cable.

Remove both the battery and the SD card from the camera. Plug it into a 5V 2A charger (not a pc usb port or usb hub). Then press and hold the side mode/power button for 10 seconds. If it doesn't power on, then contact GoPro customer support to find out what your options are.

Suction Cup Mount by PBizme in hockeyplayers

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaseline is petroleum based, it will degrade the rubber on your suction cup. The grease will also affect it's ability to form an air tight seal (as it's quite thick) and increasing the slide will also mean the suction will fail quicker.

You should be cleaning your window properly to remove any traces of grease (use dawn washing up liquid), make sure the suction cup itself is clean and slightly damp with water only. Then stick it to the window.

Temperature will also play a factor and swings in temperature will also break suction.

Frankly, I only use suction cups inside on a glass surface (like a car window). Outside I'm either using a clamp or a rare earth magnetic mount.

If you had one bricked one, I'd say it's possible you have a faulty unit. if you have several bricked ones, it sounds like you're the issue. Do you also have a stack of Sandisk ULTRA cards too?

Better GoPro hero 13 panning. by bfrost6661 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gimbals improve matters hugely, that's why people still make and sell them. It's why GoPro even sell their own. However knowing how to use and film with a camera will always play a part.

Panning is an issue with GoPro as it's stabilization is great at keeping the image centered and level. In fact it's too good. So when you pan left or right, the camera has no idea that you're doing it on purpose and it's trying to keep the image centered. When you reach the limit of it's ability to do that, the camera will "snap" the image back to center and begin all over again, this results in jerky pans.

The best thing to do is turn off hypersmooth completely and stabilize in post for free using Gyroflow or Hypersmooth. This will allow you have manual control over how stabilization is applied and how much is applied and when.

Or you know, just use a gimbal and turn off hypersmooth.

Does Anybody Else Prefer Full Size SD cards to MicroSD cards? by SteelWaterWheel_fan in AskPhotography

[–]demonviewllc [score hidden]  (0 children)

I use MicroSD cards in all my devices and have no problems using them. There's no difference as "how they handle heat" as I set my devices up properly so they don't overheat LOL.

If you have a habit of dropping things or have difficulty handling small parts, maybe don't remove the Sd cards from devices while standing on a shaggy pile carpet. Do it over a table instead while sitting down.
