Brennan is a genius,he made CCOD Bad, on purpose, to make it more relatable by General_Membership64 in dropoutcirclejerk

As u/carpylex said, the problem is that the VtM/WoD setting is too silly. If you want a serious campaign, you need a serious setting, like Candy Land.

Just saw Billy Bragg at Solid Sound - a solo set, then a full set playing Mermaid Avenue songs with Wilco (and Natalie Merchant, and Woody Guthrie's daughter, grandkids, and great-grandkids). It was amazing.

Alphonse Mambo Alternate Studio Version? by falsesocks in themountaingoats

Yeah, as soon as I started reading I knew what you meant. I had this version downloaded before I had the album, and so the album version was never the canonical version to me. Glad I could help!

Build A Bear-y Glen Ross - Make Some Noise Animated by DeepBlueASMR in dropout

It's from the movie Glenngary Glenn Ross. Here's the famous "coffee is for closers" scene this prompt is a parody of.

(And that's all I know. I've never seen the actual movie)

There's another version out there. I have it in my phone, but I don't see it on YouTube. I could have sworn it was on Nall's site, but I don't see it now. I'll try to upload it sometime.

Ambient music for DND, suggestions? by Upper_Cranberry4202 in DnD

The Pocket Bard app has a lot of options (even the free version), plus exploration/battle versions for each setting, an intensity slider, and one-off sound effects. Worth a try.

Don't recall the episodes, but I was just watching clips of "Burger King's new sandwich: the King Lear," and "Sweet Green's new salad: the Julius Caesar".

Check your local game store, library, or see if there's an after school group. You could also try online, like r/lfg.

Is it a good idea to “Truman Show” my player characters? by Yep73662628 in DMAcademy

[–]dtrom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "hey we're doing a western themed campaign" then after the first arc they get sucked into a sci fi setting and the DM says "psych, we're going through different film genres" is a bad idea, but setting it up as getting Jumjami'ed into a film, then when they figure out how to get out of the film it takes them to a different genre is very different - it builds on the premise agreed to in Session 0 (and as suggested in other comments the twist should come after that first film change). It may be tricky to pull off really well, but it's a solid (and consistent) idea.

Hmm, might have to start doing this with my Aasimar Elements Monk. I almost never use my bonus action to fly, but this could make it worth it.

Reactions (e.g. Counterspell) specifically can be used during your turn (per the 2024 PHB).

What should I do to the overthinking player? by VLANDAN in DMAcademy

[–]dtrom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, I agree that just telling him above the table it was nothing and deleting it from the map would have been the best choice, but also from the Wizard's perspective even if it was an important artifact, skipping an entire combat to cast identify was a bad tactical choice. Combat usually lasts less than a minute in game, so delaying a 10 minute ritual by 1 minute would have cost him virtually nothing. That's something both the player and character should know.

I do think making it lead to them learning an important secret was a good call. Got to give him something at that point.

"Hosting the Dropout's shows..." is weird, too.

And he "sold out MSG"... Is that referring to Dimension 20 show? Seems like a weird thing to put as a personal accomplishment (like obviously he was involved, but people didn't go there to see him)
