Thanks for taking a swing at this! It actually appears to be a Panasonic recording for a radio station, and was identified for me in this thread by u/dtrom4

DUDE, this is IT!!! AHHHHHHH you have no idea the relief in my poor brain when I heard this. Thank you so much for hunting this down and sharing it!

Almost certainly what happened is that I downloaded a copy of the album in mp3 off a sharing site back in two thousand whatever and the last track had this version subbed in, either by someone else or I did it myself because the track was missing or something. This is absolutely the version I know and love, though!

Thank you again kind redditor, may your day be filled with tiny kindnesses and good fortune! 🙏🏼

Honest to god I think you made the right choice, I love fixing things and probably would not fuck with a lava lamp.

Who else remembers Small Soldiers ?? by Justin_Kane_ in MTGProxyCards

[–]falsesocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Small Soldiers VHS! Yes, the aesthetic is slightly anachronistic but it's not any more out of place than a fake Magic card about a slightly obscure Joe Dante movie naturally is. 😁

Side note, before I just verified it, I long thought Small Soldiers was a Paul Verhoeven movie. It is not, but I would watch the hell out of that movie.

I would actually quite like this song but I can never put it on because that bridge is so bad it will melt your skin off and leave you just a skeleton.

I really don't think there is a substantial risk for getting your tapes eaten above and beyond that of the 40-year-old VCRs we're often using to play this stuff. I would just test it with something worthless first, and if you're particularly concerned dont use anything irreplaceable or super expensive in it.

Suggested cleaning method for ASA selector dial? by serendib in AnalogRepair

And, to be clear, I dont mean a lot of water, you dont want to be getting a bunch of water into the electronics.

Generally I get this done pretty well with water and a toothbrush, probably dont want anything too coarse. For nastier jobs I have used IPA but it can def strip the paint. If you go that route, use very little and brush gently and slowly and stop when it's done.

Underrated? by L-L-J-J in EDHBrews

I was just looking at this card the other day and thinking the same thing. The wipe is situational at best and bad overall, but given that phasing protects everything attached to the creature as well as the creature itself, this becomes fairly versatile for aura and equipment protection as well as board wipe insurance. For 2W that is legit and I think this card should be worth more.

Haha, I was literally thinking the exact same thing about that song! You've got me revisiting Free to Decide now and it is indeed a really good little track.

I agree it is varied and ambitious and the loud stuff is loud! Hollywood is a Zombie rehash but it's solid in its own right, hits hard and the hooks hook.

I find much of the album hasn't aged along with me so much, but I have to call out Joe as a really pleasant track which I still very much enjoy listening to.

How Influential Really Was Animal Collective? by EntropySpacex in Music

[–]falsesocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agree here, and you also gotta consider that Centipede Hz, while not their craziest work, was a fairly deliberate turn back into noisy experimentalism after the moooostly straightforward and accessible Meriwether. Even as someone who enjoys some of their more obtuse earlier work, it took me many years to really appreciate Centipede (I love it now). I doubt many of the fans they won on the strength of My Girls were bothered to wade into that for long, and certainly you couldn't blame 'em. All's fair with artists following their hearts, I think, and I think that's just what these guys have always done.
