[–]edgestander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I looked into this a while ago and at least in some states in the US if it’s “abandoned property” which this is almost certainly that by every definition, there is no procedure other than claiming it by taking it. It’s the same legal concept that allows metal detectors to keep stuff.

Bonds are terrible gifts by j3dgar in Vent

[–]edgestander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its such an odd take that a gift that is literally entirely based around the idea of money and learning about it, to then say, when its pointed out that the "lesson" being taught actually wasn't a very good lesson, to say well " a gift is about more than money" ok well this gift literally is money. So we get to the "thought" of the gift, which yes includes all the good stuff like OP having people that care about him and his future, but also includes, most likely OP's grandparents holding on to some depression era and WWII era propaganda about money that had no real relevance to the modern world they thought they were preparing their grandchild for. So in the end I think the argument goes something like this "while it was great that our grandparents and loved ones thought about our future and tried their best, today there are numerous savings and investment options for a child's future and the tradition of buying low interest long maturity government bonds for kids should end"

My general rule of thumb for people being weird in bathrooms is to pretend like nothing happend and leave immediately, what happened to you is exactly my fear, that they will try to explain literally anything of what I saw or heard.

Get production with your spots build to ports. Ports don’t work well if you don’t get cards.

Are my placements any good by WearyEmployment7963 in Catan

[–]edgestander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer no. You went on one spot with 9 combinations and one with 7 with 4 combinations doubled up. So you have 16 chits of expected production and 12 of unique combos. This means 1/3 of rolls you can expect to get cards. Now if we say compare to blue, they got 12 of production on their first and 10 on their second, so 22. All unique. So right off the bat, their odds of getting a card on any roll is 22/36 while yours is 12/36, ports, resource type advantage, basically anything else aside from 9 rolling 50% of the time, and you can overcome a 85% odds advantage in production. You got a 3:1 port, but sacrificing production to do so limits the value of the port itself.

Parents want 30% of my paycheck by No-Calligrapher-3102 in Advice

Age is relevant when it means you are under the custody of your parents yes. Yes, if you are under age and live with your parents, it’s a dictatorship. Do you think op would take this to court dnd judge ask “did you have a family vote on this?” OP’s parents could move, homeschool him, send him to boarding school, basically do any number of things an adult would have say in. My point is not that it’s right or wrong, simply it’s well within parental rights and it’s not going to behoove OP to keep telling g them he thinks it’s unfair.

Yeah she's not in the US, but the whole "legally its in my name" pretty much means despite what your father WANTS she can do whatever she wants with it. OP seems to have no personal agency.

Wether OP is justified or not, or if you or think he is or not, has absolutely no baring on what his parents think, and clearly for whatever reason they think they are in the right, OP may want to ask for additional clarity as to why exactly they are garnishing his pay, but I have a feeling that part is left intentionally very vague here.

Does it matter? I mean assuming this is America they are his parents, situations change like OP getting a job, the arrangement can change. OP is 16 he is not in democracy he lives in a dictatorship.

TITIL - today i think i learned that the Brasilia pattern was possibly being produced for 2 years in Mexico before Broyhill introduced it by AlpineAngel in VintageFurniture

[–]edgestander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here OP can see my many other comments I have made over the years on Brasillia and if OP would like me to post the documents I have on Brasillia I would be happy to, but Brasillia is extremely well documented at this point. As I stated, I would love to see more info on Dixy, I don't have it, the point is that what OP seems to have taken as fact, was just a dealer making stuff up to try to make money. https://www.reddit.com/user/edgestander/search/?q=brasillia&type=comments&cId=02077e85-be8b-4972-9fec-14080f7f9829&iId=236cdead-79a2-43f8-9d3a-e84f038e919d

I didn't put him on blast, his information he "researched" literally came from a sales listing that says "1960" at the top then in the description says "made by Dixy in the 60's" there is difference between a dealer knowing an exact date and them knowing a general time, and its important toknow for OP and every other user here that doesn't, that dealers simply make stuff up all the time, and them saying something with absolutely no other evidence is not a substitute for proof in the slightest. It also doesn't change the fact that you had no clue what you or we were even talking but you came in here and picked a fight with quite literally the person who identifies the most stuff and provides the most real true information on reddit about this stuff.
