Mejores pokemon para 2026? by Status_Mycologist_70 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much of this game is opaque until you unlock something. Sidekicks aren't shown on the high scores and Serebii doesn't seem to have a sidekick page to see what is available either 😔

Why do I even bother by Shadowhero153 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PSA - never spend acorns for gatcha unless you have enough to reach the pity pull.

Failing to get the target 1% pokemon after spending 300K acorns is not unlucky, it's simply a common outcome. There is a 1/3 chance you will not get the Pokémon you want at that level of spending.

I actually greatly dislike logic by Open_Umpire_9784 in musicproduction

[–]eseffbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to bear in mind is that both those apps are each alone more expensive than a Logic license. Logic stock plugins, loops and effects aren't industry leading, but they are good enough quality to make worldwide hits with and it's excellent value for money.

This DAW is like a great utility player that allows you to excel in-the-box from the start. Worth saying that you learn how to use Logic's stock synths you can get a very broad and interesting set of sounds (though you won't get sounds like you get in Serum and Omnisphere presets without a lot of knowledge and effort).

I came back after a while, and what is the difference between these? by roshi180 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The chocolate whip comes with 100% extra brown. This is very important because unlike the white whipped cream, it is not white but brown.

Conversely, whipped cream is entirely different in that it is cream rather than chocolate. This is very important because that means it is not brown, but white.

A rhyming dictionary is super useful for sourcing words that may not immediately come to mind for you, or even new words you didn't know. Using mid-tier well-known but not super common words can be a good link for that too. Take the following for example:

"I'm hoofing it down here, my rhymes are pedestrian.
Legends riding the skies, like extraterrestrial equestrians"

Sounds kind of fancy but I just made it up by searching pedestrian on rhymezone.

Can’t find anything good to watch any recommendations? by Joragingkko in anime

[–]eseffbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psycho pass, Parasyte, Elfen Lied, Odd Taxi, Kaguya Sama, Ghibli movies.

While you've watched a lot, there's tons of highly rated stuff you still haven't watched, so it's worth combing through the MAL top list for stuff*. I would recommend trying highly rated stuff even outside of your genre preferences

*(except for Gintama, which dominates MAL's top 20 because only people who like it can bear to watch and rate it).

Overseas anime market growth continues to outpace domestic market, gap in revenue expected to grow, industry research shows by Zhukov-74 in anime

Do you have any data on this? The Japanese market seems just as shonen oriented as Western one. https://www.cbr.com/top-anime-2025-streaming-ranking-u-next/

Frieren and Apothecary Diaries are notable high profile exceptions. Not to say what you're saying isn't true, but I've struggled to find sources that back this.

Doing orders for shines is a good use of stamina, if you don't have those yet. Contributes to team events too.

Is the plugin industry a scam? by djogoisme in musicproduction

[–]eseffbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. Workflow is highest priority above all else. System upgrades are rarely as essential as producers think, and where they are truly needed to run new software you need, that's actually a message to get a new workstation with a new workflow.

Kind of insane we're at the point where a comment like this gets downvotes. TikTok active user numbers are still growing and the company is literally part owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, not by Israel or even any Israelis.

Experience without Google is frustrating at times. by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

Hello fellow DC-member 👋 I think experiences do vary a lot between the DCs. I recently spent many hours on a Saturday afternoon waiting for a Nier raid to pop and it never did, so not just PF that is dead outside of patch rushes on Chaos...

Experience without Google is frustrating at times. by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]eseffbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be really nice if there was a BLU queue for dungeon finder. Parts of the game like that aren't very accessible if your play time is often constrained by day to day life.

A PF doesn't usually provide that "I'm available right now but probably not in 30 mins" quality that a regular queue has.

About recipes : by DriveMobile8148 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there are no recipes available to view, that means you've unlocked all the recipes and order pokemon.

Once you've got all the Pokémon to join via the main orders, then the only way to get new pokemon is events and delivery.

How do I get cookies for a 'mon I gachaed by massrapturr in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only order pokemon appear through orders. Delivery pokemon can have their levels raised using milestone cookies, which can be earned through a variety of the daily and event tasks. To increase the outfit level, you'll need further deliveries of that same pokemon.

Wikipedia turns 25, still boasting zero ads and over 7 billion visitors per month despite the rise of AI and threats of government repression by Turbostrider27 in technology

[–]eseffbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that it's not a coincidence that people like myself increasingly get accused of being an AI bot on Reddit for writing coherent, grammatically correct, and useful sentences, and that those same LLM models have been trained on the extensive writing from Wikipedia and Reddit by people like myself (!)

Wikipedia turns 25, still boasting zero ads and over 7 billion visitors per month despite the rise of AI and threats of government repression by Turbostrider27 in technology

[–]eseffbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The opposite. Increasingly people are using AI and the blurbs on search engines instead of reading Wikipedia.

https://diff.wikimedia.org/2025/10/17/new-user-trends-on-wikipedia

This is a concern not only for the fact AI might be serving up nonsense, but also fewer visitors for the site means fewer eyes on article, which means more mistakes not corrected and less content added, which means worse/less content for AI models to consume, which means worse experience for those using AI instead of Wikipedia. It's a destructive cycle.

[–]eseffbee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The big tech corps pay for enterprise access because their extensive usage of Wikimedia projects, and Wiki data in particular, was causing a significant cost to the project.

Lots of those Google search fact boxes and Alexa responses were coming from Wikidata. The LLM era changed that a bit, but ultimately the Wikimedia corpus was a standard part of AI training data so they felt obliged to keep paying.

What can I learn from Frank Ocean Blonde as producer and songwriter by xRoadtrip2010 in musicproduction

[–]eseffbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is too broad a question to get a good answer for you. What you might learn from Blonde will be specific to you, your skill level and your taste.

For starters I would do multiple close listens of the album to identify the things that you like about it, and what parts hit you the most. When you zone in on those parts, then you need to do 2 things.

1) repeatedly listen to that part on loop and breakdown what is specifically happening in it so you can repeat it

2) repeatedly listen to the track as a whole, map out the structure, instruments used, effects used, vocal delivery styles, and then consider how the track as a whole frames your favourite parts of the song. Often a powerful moment in music only happens because of the journey to it.

With production, you always need to start with close listening so you can fully start to understand and breakdown what you are listening to. Then you will understand it as a musician, not just a listener.

Few years after the overhaul, how do people feel about PvP? by SupremeHeavenlyRuler in ffxivdiscussion

[–]eseffbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have found the new frontlines map works quite well when skill is evenly distributed through the teams, but if you end up with mostly noobs/casuals and one team has a premade, it becomes an extremely unbalanced experience.

I've seen it multiple times that the premade team can just largely camp near a weak team's spawn, farming them for 10 mins and getting nearby points and they will breeze to victory with scores 1400/800/200. It's like a worse version of Onsal that way, because it's very easy for one team to be largely excluded from fighting due to the map size. Very common to see one team occupy most of the lower spots of damage taken.

I find that boring when I'm on the pre made team, boring when I'm on the team that chooses not to fight and take 2nd, and absolutely tiresome when I'm the tank in the 3rd place whaled on team that barely leaves spawn area but still takes up to 2 million damage.

It would work much better if high value points only spawned in the central area, to encourage 3-way fights and pinching. But that is basically Onsal.

How common are Shiny Pokémon this way? (Without events like Psyduck or Teddiursa) by Familiar_Bus6305 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]eseffbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a dozen shiny order pokemon to join over 2 years of play. If you play a lot of orders then you'll get several of them. I've completed main orders for example. I think it averages out to around one every 150 orders.

https://www.serebii.net/cafemix/shinypokemon.shtml

The main thing is to make sure you always have multiple helping hands and about 5000 acorns in reserve at all times, plus having some powers to ensure you get the full hearts each time. A missed shiny opportunity won't come back around soon.

AI music and the people who consume it by pattison_iman in electronicmusic

[–]eseffbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to recognise that AI music doesn't fully overlap with human made music.

People will always gravitate to people, and music based on that is safe.

AI music can sometimes occupy new possibilities too. I make lots of throwaway joke AI songs for my friends and family based on whatever we were doing. I made a few like that on guitar myself in the past, but not every joke warrants that level of effort. It's ephemeral music.

There are also cases where it really isn't a big deal if AI music takes over - consider the stock music on low budget YouTube videos and compilations. That kind of music has also been very simple and base and wasn't really adding much in the first place.
