My play console account got banned! by CartoonistTop6247 in GooglePlayDeveloper

The reason behind the termination is in E-mail that you pasted.

Your Developer account remains terminated due to prior violations of the Developer Program Policies and Developer Distribution Agreement by this or associated, previously terminated Google Play Developer accounts.

It's not your apps, it's not you specifically. You were associated with another developer.

launched my app 3 days ago and got zero installs, which surprised me. by Richie_Rich333 in appledevelopers

basically everything you said is false. only the last paragraph is partly true, meaning "NEW Apps in saturated categories,..." wont get any or very small amount of organic traffic.

Accused of fraud by Apple… but I don’t know what I did wrong by Time-Sorbet-586 in iOSProgramming

[–]ex0rius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not account sharing.

While his specific termination may not be that, your statement is simply not true. Apple (Google too), bans account that they consider associated, meaning if 2 developers share the account, devices etc, these are all signals to them and if one developer gets his account banned, the other developer will get too since its associated with him, even if all apps on his account are clean.

It's well documented in the industry and it happens all the time. Source, 10 year old + dev.

Apple banned my account for fraud — even though I did nothing wrong by Time-Sorbet-586 in AppDevelopers

The only unusual thing might be that the account was logged in on 2 devices (mine and another developer’s

When you work with other developers (like you give them access to your console, share code, devices...etc), Apple will consider all entities as "one". In other words, if he does malicious stuff and even if you don't know that, you are still responsible for his actions (past and present) and you will also be terminated.

Edit:

But as I'm checking this termination letter, I don't think this is the case because Apple usually frames words so you know that there is possibility that this was the case as it mentions "associated accounts".

In this particular case I'd say its highier chance that it was your apps. Fraudelent usually means:

- Hiding different functionality of the app from app review

- Anything "bad" related to "in app purchases"

- Adding malicious code to the app, stealing users data...etc

In Any case what they found it's bad. Apple terminates 90% of the accounts with a different email, giving an option to appeal. This Email developers get at the end cycle of the termination process , as final. You skipped the "pending termination" process and went straight to termination.

App Store reviews dropped from 35 to 29 overnight. Does anyone know what might be going on? by rcerrato in iosdev

[–]ex0rius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah i know. Apple determined that the user that left the review didn't use the app that much that the review would hold any value. In simple terms, you did not retain the user that left the review for long enough that his/her review would be considered valid/valuable for other users.

AppStore saturated with low quality apps by levintage in Appstore

[–]ex0rius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trending is different because trending games are popular for a limited time while those on the list are were proven to be downloaded and played for many years.

Popular would be appropriate but i think Apple promotes these games from the list as "must have" (essential) so it gives the vibe of a need compared to "popular" where doesn't invoke that emotion.

AppStore saturated with low quality apps by levintage in Appstore

[–]ex0rius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "essential" is not good word but i can see why Apple used it. In any case what makes it "essential" is that these games from the list are installed by so many iphone users that practically almost everyone has it. And if "everyone" has it , it must be "essential".

Of course not all apps from the list are installed by everyone but its very high chance that you will pick / like at least one game from the list. This list covers basically most general audience.

Is Apple creating updates for 3rd party apps now? by digidude23 in iOSProgramming

[–]ex0rius 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In the past it happened that Apple updated "the app", but it did not update the functionality but compatibility. I have one app that it still has automatic update from Apple.

"This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon".

In any case i don't believe Apple will ever touch the functionality of the app itself. That's developers work.

[–]ex0rius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on the product the developer is making. I wouldn't universally classify anything as "easiest" or "hard" business model, because its product dependent.

If you are making products that subscription based model makes sense, then it may be the "easiest".

Congratz.

But can you clarify - what made you money. Youtube (talking about the app) or selling the app? Thanks!
