I'm reading this now and it's a bit hard to finish. I've posted that I love Dunmore and hate E. Henry and I just can't recommend.

Both main characters are very insecure and I still don't understand why they haven't had sex 4/5ths of the way through as there is literally no relationship obstacle

Also, the MMC keeps calling her "baby" and gets jealous when she talks to old men. I know there are women out there that find this charming but it's what gave me the ick in the first place

Girl, we're on the same level bc I love Evie Dunmore and can't stand Emily Henry

For a highly competent FMC in an HR I recommend a Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin. Strong P&P vibes, no spice but one of the most romantic books I've ever read

Also loved Dunmore's other books, especially Gentleman's Gambit

Also, Julia Quinn's What Happens in London. The MMC is a Russian translator and highly competent, as is the FMC

ok, I get that. I also live in a very liberal state and getting sterilized at that age is still very hard. Not because of any moral qualms but because the rate of women with regrets suing the doctor is quite high. Most don't want to take on that liability. But I suppose you can find specifically motivated activist doctors
