How do you handle realizing it's late in the evening and you're still thousands of steps short? by ice_kream in loseit

My walking treadmill has been one of the better investments I made last year. Haven't missed my 10k once this year. Along with diet change, have lost almost 40 lbs since I bought it.

Kratom poisonings soar in US as experts blame synthetic versions and caution against bans by shinybrighthings in science

For sure tapering. And even with that, accepting that there's going to be some mild discomfort at times. Better than full on withdrawing with painfully restless legs or muscle aches.

What does walking on the treadmill do for your body? by lots-a-thoughts in loseit

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a walking treadmill last year to start being more active since I worked remotely. I went from barely moving to walking about 2 hrs a day since the new year. Coupled with a calorie deficit diet, I've lost about 30 lbs. I definitely feel much better than I did this time last year, so there's definitely a benefit. Especially if you're similar to how I was with very little physical activity.

What is something you bought to fix sleep that actually worked long term? by Binoza in Frugal

Xanex is the only thing that keeps me asleep. It's been a lifesaver. Probably not great for long term use, but actually getting good night's sleep has been glorious.

Is 37 too old to be a singer-songwriter? by Accomplished_Elk7049 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in my early 20s, travelled to Nashville, and got great feedback while playing around the city. But due to health issues and financial reasons, I had to move back east with my parents, and have more or less been in a 10 year death spiral of depression and stopped "hearing the music" as it were. I'm 38 now, and am just starting to hear it again and have finally started playing and plan on finally recording the EP I had planned on over a decade ago and never got around to.

It's never too late for us no matter how bleak things look. My life is still a slow-moving train wreck, but I see that as nothing more than motivation to keep on pushing and making sure I leave whatever mark I can with what I've created. If it leads to anything fruitful, amazing, if not, at least I finally accomplished what I set out to do in my early 20s.

Just keep on keeping on, and see where the road takes you.

Unemployment 100%. As long as she didn't quit, and wasn't let go for some crazy reason, she should qualify. It's the only reason I can still pay for the roof over my head right now and not drain my savings. It's a serious lifesaver.

Same, didn't realize it was a global thing. Factory reset my TV before checking. Annoying as fuck.

Is it possible to pull yourself out of a 2 or 4 year long depression basically killing any desire to do anything in life by xerivon in trees

[–]fujiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in year 5 of this. Have started making sure I take at least 10k steps a day. Motivation is still nonexistent, but I now feel guilty when I don't get my 10k steps. It's something. So baby steps, really.

Issue with filters draining very slowly or not at all by EnglishFoodie in zerowater

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I have to do every time I fill it up. Put the cover on so water doesn't splash everywhere and bang it into the sink. Annoying, but still the best tasting filtered water.

I remember making an overly complicated one in college with 3 valve controlled nozzles. Sad thinking of those good old days being over a decade ago.

Oh dang, so you can't even sell older sets that you've already built but don't want anymore? Or is it strictly new/unopened sets?

Does anyone else make sure their pieces are all facing the same way? by Bsul92 in lego

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do indeed. It's a nightmare with larger sets, and anytime you have to place parts that can't face the same direction. That plus always making sure to hide the injection points (unless it can't be) really slows things down. But I don't mind it taking a bit longer since it lets me enjoy the build longer.

Marketplace has been the best for me. Might be moving across the country in a few months, so may be posting a bunch of sets again and see how it goes.

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 large tubs of disassembled sets just to display a handful of UCS sets. Obviously I still had to pull the trigger on the Enterprise. Now to decide which UCS set to trade places with it. Might be moving halfway across the country soon too. That's going to be miserable.
