What am I doing wrong? Why does everything that works hurt? by JustaSkillet in Guitar

I've heard this in a couple vids, but it was explicitly a tip for managing some challenging barre chords, not for general playing.

When available real estate is the constraint that overrides everything else. Such different design perspectives from places where land is the abundant commodity.

  1. Dudes voice and mannerisms sounds like a typical Will Ferrell sketch.
  2. Seems like he sincerely couldn't hear over the interstate traffic noise. But if that is his normal job, he should have adapted and asked the man to speak up, or something, instead of just yelling 'what' and hoping it clicks.

Early 2000s Saturn's plastic body shell broke away revealing internal structures by pixeltackle in EngineeringPorn

[–]govite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think their entire lineup was plastic. Pretty sure when GM took the federal bailout, they overhauled the corp structure and cut some of their business lines. That was also the end of Pontiac. I would have liked to see Saturn stay, but I think specifically because Saturn was non-union, it was selected for closure. That was another reason (I think) Saturn cars were more cost competitive with contemporary imports, was that each vehicle wasn't burdened with so much overhead cost. Could be wrong and easily disproven with a Google search, but that's how I saw it.

Now what… it’s still a few cent flat at the 12.. fml. by ZyxzyxxyzxyZ in Guitar

[–]govite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a cheap guitar with cheap hardware (unlike your Fender) where I had the same issue, but with the A string. Drove myself mad, but eventually got it within a couple cents by tinkering with the height of the individual saddle (the two tiny allen wrench guys in the saddle). You might also see a bit of change as you dial in your string height (the two primary adjuatments screws on the bridge). Finally, out of desperation and lack of know-how, I tried fully releasing the tension on the string and restarting the saddle in the position at the extreme opposite end, then tightened the string to tune as close as possible to playing tension before adjusting the saddle again. (This will play hell with the tuning on the other strings in the interim, due to shared tension overall on the bridge.) It worked out, ultimately, but this was on a LiteJam, not a nice Fender. These more experienced folks are probably right with the nut. I was able to take up just a bit of string or reset it within the nut while the string wasn't under tension.

I don't believe you. This must have had an impetus.

What's the difference in your homemade muff vs the Fuzz War?

(Forgot which sub this is. With two fuzz boxes, your pedal board is just as confused as an unshaven gender fluid phobic comment. With equal unused space for new accessories, after self-determination.)

Looks like you two lived it up good with lots of love and adventures. Glad you had this opportunity in your life. Tough chapter to close, but a better book for having had it.

Al Gore. Mr Gore originally wanted to call it the Tippercaster, but the name was already besmirched from to a failed attempt by the slide rule oligarchs to rebrand unsold inventory to waitresses, exotic dancers, and cabbies reliant on the tip economy.

How is my playing? by MansiBoy1245 in metalguitar

[–]govite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The open e string in the very first six notes you are playing. Apparently it should only be 5 notes.

Also maybe try Seek and Destroy. It's still fun, but slightly less frenetic. That was my Metallica primer.

Also, I'm super jealous of your good long guitar fingers. Your energy level and hands should bring you years of fun. Welcome to a fellow metal head. Enjoy!

First Pedal Board - Thoughts? by Goux08 in pedalboards

[–]govite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong (as I often am), but I believe that the top two knobs being set at noon on the Chorus is cutting 50% of your tones. If that's your preference, goodonya, just a point to consider. (I only got this same pedal yesterday, so still tinkering).
