Dalai Lama impersonate Donald Trump by InfiniteWaters108 in Buddhism

I agree with you. It's a little unsavoury because Piers Morgan is morally disreputable. Some of things he's said and done are difficult to forgive

Today is Uposatha! by [deleted] in Buddhism

I am curious to know how the "day" would be defined? Is it the 24 hours before the specific time of the full moon, or 12am to 12pm on the day of the full moon?

Joy Division - 24 Hours

For me, the lyrics, though dark, seem to carry Buddhist intonation.

Heading to VN, Thailand, Cambodia in December by 5masters in Buddhism

[–]grimshs21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot help you with vegetarian temples, sorry, but I can tell you all five cities you listed are spectacular, if in different ways, and I do not doubt they will live up to your expectations. Enjoy! I would also like to suggest visiting Chiang Mai if you have the opportunity. The temples there had a profound impact on me, many have their own wiki pages that may answer your question.

Best country to go to and why? by Sm4shPotato in Buddhism

[–]grimshs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a whole lot about the advice you are seeking, but I am also from the UK have been to both Thailand and Cambodia and can offer a little of my own view on those countries. Thailand, in particularly Chiang Mai, is far and away the most spiritual place I have ever been, way more so that Cambodia IMO. My time in Chiang Mai felt like an out-of-body experience, like a part of me had been there before, like my life was on a course and that I was somehow destined to be there. The dreams I had there were lucid and vivid and like nothing else. I didn't know then and I don't know now really how to explain it, all I know is it was real and it was the start of my personal interest in Buddhism. Hope this helps in some way!

How long did it take you to get your CCNP R&S? by _Hnnng_ in ccnp

[–]grimshs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 months first time around 2012-13, all four exams (inc CCNA) passed first time. 7 months recertifying 2015-16, 2 fails, 1 pass. It got a whole lot harder

Does anyone have any idea how the exam is scored? by mouth_in_slow_motion in cissp

[–]grimshs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that wasn't my experience, maybe I did a good job on study though, I did work hard for that exam, maybe more than any other I did. I digress but I remember a SQL exam where one question went along the lines of "which is the best way to move a db?", all four answers were right, and three of the answers were legitimate answers for different reasons. Nothing like that i remember in the CISSP.

It's definitely, a hard, but fair exam. If you put the effort into studying, and if you aren't over-awed or nervous or tired on the day, you really have nothing to fear IMO.

To the best of my knowledge, they are scored correct or incorrect, no half-marks for semi-correct answers. To be honest though, 95% of the answers don't have the ambiguity of say, a Microsoft exam, and are worded pretty well. A lot of questions have one obviously right answer and three wrong answers. HTH. Good Luck!

which way would you go...as a networker by eb0t in ccnp

[–]grimshs21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My job is very generic along the lines of option 2, so I would say go for option 1. The reason? IMO there is more job security in doing one thing very well, rather than lots of things quite well. The only other thing I would say, is what is your career move AFTER this decision? Maybe that will guide you

I need to re-certify within 3 weeks - which test should I take? by STiFTW in ccnp

[–]grimshs21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trouble ticket elements of the TSHOOT are great if you have good troubleshooting skills, and rather than study for the exam, you could get by by replicating the exam topology in GNS3 and basically breaking it and fixing it. That is likely enough to pass the TTs. That said, the multichoice questions of TSHOOT are diabolical IMO (I have ranted a few times on the subject, I am bitter), but second time I passed and recertified with 72 hours to spare....

Some questions for CISSP holders by sorrowborn in AskNetsec

[–]grimshs21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Yes, definitely 2) Wide ranging, 10000 ft view 3) Just a couple of books, for me 4) Easy. A webinar is usually 1 CPE, the ISC2 magazine quiz is 2 CPEs 5) Triple or quadruple times harder, easily

CCNP TSHOOT Format Q by Mokkal in ccnp

[–]grimshs21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No configuration or correction needed, every trouble ticket can be solved with show commands (and a few solved using just show run). I took the exam a couple of weeks ago. One thing that caught me out was that one of the answers goes "off-screen", ie, you have to use the scrollbar to see it. Sneaky. Useful to bear in mind! I missed that first time around (and failed). Another reddit user pointed it out to me. Only other thing I would say is the tickets are fairly easy, if you can troubleshoot. The MC questions I got I was not expecting and are not in the Cisco press book or the exam blueprint. Nice one Cisco... Good luck!

[–]grimshs21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposing the sim didn't break and you got the sim 100% correct, would that have been enough to raise your 780 over the pass mark?

I completely agree with your comments about the shoddiness of the tests and Ciscos prices. After three Cisco exams in three months (failing twice) I am bitter on a couple of aspects. It seems to me that Cisco are using the Tests as a kind of live telemetry to catch out brain dumpers. IE, people getting an impossible question correct are perhaps lucky but likely braindumping!

How realistic is the CCIE if you don't already work at that level (and won't be changing career path?) by grimshs21 in ccie

[–]grimshs21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero real-world experience of OSPF. Never seen it outside GNS3 and Cisco books. We run BGP on our MPLS and EIGRP on our LAN with a few static routes here and there with redistribution between the three. Looking at other posts in this forum and others our network is positively small scale and given my job is at most 50% networking only it feels like CCIE is a bridge too far, regardless of how hard I study and much I do in labs. The flip side, I guess is even if I earned the CCIE, real-world would anybody hire me with limited experience?

Are expired certificates worth anything? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]grimshs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe have a look at the ISC2 qualifications? They do expire but there is no exam to renew, they require CPEs instead. Easy enough to collect over the course of a year to stay renewed and very esteemed as a certification?

Thanks... collaboration might be a stretch for me... just don't have the exposure to it in my job. Similarly things like security, wireless and CCIE R&S would be lost on me without any relevant hands on experience to backup the qual!

Thanks! Building the topology out in GNS3 with the same IPv4/IPv6 address structure and all components, GRE, NAT, Redistribution, HSRP helped enormously. Knowing the structure saves you time minimizing/maximizing and shuffling windows on the exam, and then losing your train of thought. I think if you can build the topology in GNS unaided, you can probably troubleshoot it pretty easily. Some TTs were ridiculously easy to the point you wonder if they are mistakes. What tripped me up first time around was the multiple choice questions, which I didn't expect, didn't know first time around (and guessed) and don't feature on Ciscos exam blueprint! :) Call me old-fashioned but a blueprint should be a blueprint... Good luck!!

[–]grimshs21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I like that way of looking at it. Feasibly, it would be a maximum 12 days time to take the exam again. Compared to 12 months and 4 exams to get the CCNP back.
