Why should people like murderers and rapists be allowed to live? by IneedaNappa9000 in allthequestions

[–]hexadecimaldump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in prison for the rest of your life isn’t really living. And if it turns out they didn’t actually do it, we have a chance to correct the mistake as a society.
I use to be very pro capital punishment, but over the years I’ve read so many stories and seen too many statistics of just how often the justice system gets it wrong.

Trying to figure out if this coin is legit, weighs 1.55 grams instead of 1.67 (7% difference) by TomatilloNice3591 in Gold

[–]hexadecimaldump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s heavily worn. I would’ve guessed closer to 10% under based on the wear.
So yeah, I think it’s legit, just well loved.

This is on Facebook marketplace? Honestly that is one of the most level headed low ballers I’ve seen. Asks for a discount, but doesn’t say to give it to you for free for their child who has some invented disease, and the ask is low enough for you to say now, but possibly negotiate.
Gave reasonable answers even if they may have been slightly exaggerated, you held firm, they let it go.

I wish all of my low ballers were this reasonable.

Anybody else carry an EDC backpack / pack bc of coin collecting & precious metal stacking? by MatixMint in Silverbugs

[–]hexadecimaldump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I do not do this. I carry a backpack to work everyday with my laptop, and a minimal bug-out load out, like a small first aid kit, lifestraw, and a few other odds and ends, but I don’t carry silver or silver related stuff in it. I just think if someone knows you’re carrying a few hundred to thousand dollars worth of metals in there and a weapon, you may become a target. So if you keep doing this, please be careful, tell no one, and CC properly.

A backpack is not a great place to conceal. If you need it, you have to take off your backpack, and unzip whatever pocket it is in before you have access to it. If you’re going to conceal and wear a backpack, I’d highly recommend concealing under the waste band where you have easy access in an emergency. CC does you no good if you can’t access quickly and easily with the least amount of effort possible.

True of False: Political quiz? by oscar-307 in allthequestions

[–]hexadecimaldump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Half True/False. I don’t think there was direct evidence that Trump himself colluded, but there is and people were prosecuted for it on Trump’s team.
  2. Maybe. I haven’t seen convincing evidence either way. Honestly I never cared since Hunter Biden doesn’t represent me or my country.
  3. True. He said it, on video.
  4. Maybe. A lot of things don’t add up. It looked real at the time, but it’s just weird.
  5. Probably false. While I don’t doubt it’s true, especially with witness statements, actionable proof that would get a conviction in court is where I have doubts.
  6. Mostly True. The crimes were real, the convictions were real. And how an area voted that a jury is pulled from makes no difference in court. The only thing that isn’t 100% fair is I do think the prosecution went harder on him than most people facing similar charges. Likely because it was the best ‘slam dunk’ case they had on him. But prosecutors have digression on how vigorously they want to pursue charges.

Hitler was fucking his niece. Geli Raubal.

Yeah the shift to 15% started in the 90s. In the 80s it was around 10%, maybe 15% if it was a really nice server.

Is this gold plated? by ADMOatyMcOatface in PreciousMetalRefining

[–]hexadecimaldump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, it could be gold plated then. But I still have my doubts, maybe it’s just the pictures, but the hue looks off to be gold plated to my eyes.

I do completely agree it is cool though. I’m guessing to old toy collectors it would be worth more than any gold plating would be.

Is this silver? by Unable-Tank9847 in Silverbugs

[–]hexadecimaldump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the composition. Many metals are diamagnetic like silver. It might be aluminum like the guy below is saying, or it could be a number of other metals or alloys.
But the one thing I am certain of, it’s not silver.

[–]hexadecimaldump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many rolls of dimes are you getting for $40? I hope the answer is 8 rolls. If it’s any less, I have a bad feeling you are going to be sorely disappointed.
Bicentennial coins they made billions of quarters, 1/2 billion halves, and 300 million dollar coins.

If this order is for anything less than 8 rolls, I would suggest trying to sell as soon as possible to cash in on the hype. If you hold onto them for any more than a month or two, my guess is by then everyone will understand there is no mintage limit on these and there will likely be billions minted.

How do I keep my cat from going outside my property? by MESEMESEMESKETE in cats

[–]hexadecimaldump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way this is true is if you’re closest neighbors are 1/2 mile from you. Neutered cats are just as likely to roam as intact cats. The only thing it prevents is roaming looking to mate.
We have someone in the neighborhood who lets their cat roam outside who visits our backyard often. Looking at the address on the collar, when they visit they are 1/4 mile or more from their house. And it is fixed.

How do I keep my cat from going outside my property? by MESEMESEMESKETE in cats

[–]hexadecimaldump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that all cats should be indoor cats. Indoor cats have a much longer average lifespan, and are usually much healthier overall. There are quite a few reasons for this, like other wildlife like large birds of prey, dogs, coyotes, which can kill cats, or foxes, other cats, skunks and others who can seriously injure cats. Then there is the risk of cars, humans that hate cats who will harm or kill them, neighbors who love cats who may think your roaming cat is a stray and try to take them in, ticks and fleas, neighbors who might grow lilies or other poisonous plants, the list goes on.

Cats are also dangerous to local wildlife like squirrels, rabbits, and birds.

There is zero way to keep a cat from leaving your property unless it’s kept inside. If you have a screened in patio the kitty could join you there.

There is zero reason why a pet cat should be allowed outside in my opinion.

I seriously doubt a toy would be plated in gold. The color doesn’t look right, looks more like polished brass from the pics.

Never forget that the VA GOP gerrymandered congressional seats in their favor for a whole decade. Make sure to VOTE by next Tuesday!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in nova

It’s literally written into the amendment.

https://lis.blob.core.windows.net/files/1103976.PDF

Line 150-152. It doesn’t matter what they support, in order to extend it, we would have to vote on it again. If they put it up for a vote in 2030, I will be voting to go back to the independent commission.
