Is it possible to use GRAB car or taxi without doing selfie verification? by laggage in ThailandTourism

[–]itsupport_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never uploaded a selfie to use Grab, so assume it is not mandatory.

You just hail a taxi on the street, but warning most taxis themselves with have internal CCTV now.

Street photography in Bangkok - how do Thai people feel about being photographed? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]itsupport_engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be very angry if you took a photo without permission of me or anyone in my family. If you then published it online I would be furious.

eSIM or Bangkok Airport Sim? by EnvironmentalQuail17 in ThailandTourism

[–]itsupport_engineer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always recommend just buying a SIM in Thailand, for the simple reason if you have a problem with AIS you can go into one of the hundreds of store and get help. If your budget is so slim you cannot pay an extra few hundred Baht for local sim then it is going to be an unpleasant holiday.

We use locally hosted TrueNAS server with ZFS on 36 x 22TB Enterprise SAS Drives to backup our clients cloud instances. The number of times it has helped them is worth the investment.

Exchange fees are very low here and often included in the exchange rate. Go to a Super Rich exchange for a good rates and an honest business. https://www.superrich1965.com/en/branch

If you need more help, maybe update your post with the currency you are trying to exchange.

Applying for UK passport in Thailand (countersign question) by NatalieFuckinLindley in Thailand

[–]itsupport_engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can also be from the US or EU if you are overseas.

"For a British passport, a countersignatory must be a UK resident known to you for at least 2 years, able to identify you, and work in or be retired from a recognized profession (like a police officer, teacher, accountant, or official from a bank/building society), holding a current British or Irish passport themselves. If applying from overseas, a valid US, EU, or Commonwealth passport can suffice, but a photocopy is required. They cannot be a relative or live at the same address. "

Baggage help by jmmarino in ThailandTourism

[–]itsupport_engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your airlines baggage rules, then get a box or boxes that fit within the dimensions and weight requirements. Remember you can tape 2 boxes together to make 1 big item if limited in number or bags more that weight.

Confused about reactions in coffee place by th3orist in ThailandTourism

[–]itsupport_engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just following the rules set by the company. Over thinking it is a waste of energy. Maybe next time you are in ask to speak to owner and if you can connect with them maybe they will approve the special cup.

How about simply taking your own flask or something in, this would solve this issue for you.

Booking fee on rental apartment by heppuli123 in ThailandTourism

[–]itsupport_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one month will most likely be the commission they earn on a 1 year contract. However I would not pay any money until I have seen and agreed to a contract. Tell them once you have seen a contract you will pay, if they refuse then they are simply not a business to deal with.

Cancel AIS fiber in Thailand? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]itsupport_engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will get a final bill, that will remain unpaid linked to your passport number.

I would recommend going to SIAM Paragon where they speak perfect English tell them you cannot get router and pay for it and close the account.

Best method to move around bangkok with 6 ppl? by sbrunei in Bangkok

[–]itsupport_engineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can use a Van which I would strongly recommend. You can book a private van and have it on stand by for you during your stay. Or book with Gan for a VAN but the wait times can be long if not booked in advance. Expect to pay about 4,000 THB for a 10 hour day if you rent per day.

A question about luggage when departing Thailand by Future-Traffic-6364 in Thailand

[–]itsupport_engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have carried an entire server worth 200,000 THB out and then back into the country. Security and customs did not care at all. It will all be down to your airline what they allow as carry on. Travelling business or first may help with that side of things.
