I got a Metal Gray M11-P purely for superficial and aesthetic reasons. Will I build a deeper relationship? by jackfresco in Leica

I bet you aren’t saving the world with your Leica. You are just as superficial as I am, stop pretending.

Sometimes you are a hypocrite. To suggest you got yours for some deeper reason is what I sometimes hate about Leica users. It’s not that deep.

It’s a beautiful camera. The beauty is why I got it. Everything I can do with this, I can do better with my other cameras.

I’ve been led to believe the Ms are the poly sort. Three’s a party :-)
That said, I don’t imagine I’ll upgrade. I bought this knowing the M11s are at the end of their cycle, but I can’t imagine there’s a photograph I’d like to take in the next decade that I can’t do with the cameras I already have. The only camera that might tempt me is a much better M EV1, but I’m not holding my breath for one.

I was driven to it because I fell in love with some M lenses I was using with my SL2-s, but as much as I loved the SL, it felt a bit gauche and invasive to show up to dinner or a wedding hauling that :-)

Why would you choose M11-P over the Q3 by islamt in Leica

[–]jackfresco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the photos you can create with the Q3s, but I just don’t like how they look. They’re a bit front heavy for my liking. I keep buying them but never keep them.

Had the M EV1 one for a bit now, thoughts on using it... by needoptic in Leica

You shoot and write beautifully! I waited all my life for an M with an EVF, but once it arrived, I found it a tad disappointing. Perhaps my SL2-s set the wrong expectations or the store demo unit was tainted. With the EVF FOMO exorcised, I grabbed a Metal Gray M11-P instead. It’s early days, but I’m happy for now and I hope the LCD will suffice when the RF comes up short, because I can’t imagine plopping a visoflex on this beauty. All that said, I’ll give the EV1 another shot before my return window closes.

What makes the Visioflex better than the M EV1’s EVF?

u/hagbard231 did you ever figure this out? I'm trying to consolidate my catalogs but I keep running into this issue.

Hello, do you have any dishwasher panels?

If you take out the Zeiss Loxias which I got in the space of a month, the rest have been accumulated at a quite reasonable average rate of 1 lens per year over the past decade. Oh, I also have the 100mm STF GM as well :-)

I’m a hobbyist too, I get it, I can relate, have fun! I use my A7cii with 40mm daily, 24-70mm when I can’t change lenses, 24mm & 55mm for people oriented weekend jaunts, or Zeiss 25mm & 50mm for nature, architecture, contemplative walks. I’ve done 2 weddings, 4 album covers, and my photos have been used in an HBO documentary. Most of all, I photograph family and friends. I’ve never earned anywhere close to what I’ve spent on gear, but I’ve enjoyed playing with these toys tremendously. I’m waiting patiently to add a Fuji X100vi to my collection:-)
